So it seems this will be McLaren's last year with Vodafone, and they will announce their 2014 sponsor on 2 December.
McLaren title sponsorship deal with Vodafone to finish at end of seasonJames Allen on F1 (http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2013/03/mclaren-and-vodafone-end-title-sponsor-partnership/)
Who will it be? Now it would be easy to say it will be Telmex or some other company linked to Carlos Slim, but I'm sure we can come up with some more imaginative ideas than that!

Clearly they do have one lined up - unless they have put forward that date in hope! If it is Telmex surely that would be bad news for Sauber?.. Other than that, it really is any ones guess. There is a lot of potential, but equally times are very tough and will continue to be so.

There must be some positive news to come from McL soon enough though. Yes there has been the Honda talk, which if it comes off would be big, but at present its all of those who have headed for the exit; Hamilton, Lowe and now Vodafone.

I did wonder if and when this would happen as Vodafone have been cutting back on and changing the way they sponsor and back sports.

If it's true about Honda then maybe we'll see "my ear the dream" again :p

Personally I think it's about time the manufacturers of nicotine patches stepped up and started sponsoring some of the things that the tobacco companies used to.

This. I find sponsors irrelevant, they pay the bills.

So who should be McLaren's next title sponsor? Orange
I also think that Halford's, Texaco and Home Depot should also get on board.

Since McLaren and Mercedes are going to part ways, McLaren would do well brand its cars in their traditional "McLaren Orange".

(redbull like 888 Vodafone) what sort of backing has Sergio Perez got from Carlos Slim
On March 5, 2013, Forbes stated that Slim is still maintaining his first place position as the wealthiest person on the globe, with an estimated net worth of US$73 billion

That would certainly be an attention-grabber, as similar sponsorship was for Hesketh (http://www.squit.co.uk/photo/masters09/GP/24a.html) in the 70s.

That's a good point, they only went silver because of the involvement of Mercedes, and they've been that way for so long now we associate silver with McLaren just as much as we did the Red & White Marlboro colours of the past. Time for a new style indeed ;)

McVities - cos the tyres crumble away, and it kind of sounds like McLaren.

Orange is now rebranded EE along with its alliance with T-Mobile.

has announced the departure of Vodafone. Obviously people are going to think that their connection with the Slim family, next year Telmex will be at McLaren. This increases the pressure on their shoulders?
A. no, to the contrary. I wish I may soon have to Telmex at my side. I've done my entire career alongside them, practically since I started, and I am a little sad that have not been with me this year, because the team has even contract with Vodafone. I'd love to see the blue in my car again. Pressure, for nothing and criticism, are normal.
