Just trying out an idea. ;) On 'Spicing Up the Forum', Airshifter suggested we have a section of the forum which is unmoderated. How about just one thread? We could have a few feuds settled here, and a few banned members voicing their grievances...
Why not? ;)
If you're against the idea though, Mark and moderators, just close/delete this and sorry for the inconvenience!

I could be a good or bad thing, depends on how the members handle it. The forum that does it still moderates but with less restrictions. You for instance could get away with calling someone a douche or idiot for supporting brand or team X, but cursing and personal threats were still not tolerated. On that forum it worked OK because after a period you identify the hotheads that will never listen to any opposing view, and few members would bother to engage them.
I don't spend much time in the racing forums other than the F1 section, but a lot of the F1 people are obviously very passionate in their views. It could just as easily spiral out of control and become a nightmare to keep in line.
If you'd like I could PM you and insult you to within a fraction of my "forum life". :)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not a masochist. :cheese:
I just thought it might be a good idea to concentrate all the negative stuff into one place. There is bound to be some negative stuff, isn't there... Instead of it spoiling other, perfectly good threads.
For instance, we could discuss here how BDunnell and Daniel merged into a 'BDaniel' on the Savile thread... :)

A thread there was no need, in my opinion, to lock.

I said calm down, and many posters, including yourself, basically said "**** you", so yeah it needed closing.

Because, personally, I thought there was no need to calm down. Still, each to their own.

I agree. It was fairly light hearted I thought, but perhaps it looked insulting to a none native English speaker? The Savile case is still very much in the news so its likely going to come up in conversation again when we learn of more evidence. Hopefully they will re-open the thread. :)

You can start a new thread if you wish. However you've already had one warning, and ignored it. This is a second warning, there won't be a third warning.

Probably best to leave it as it is in that case. Don't go and get yourselves banned guys, this place is quiet enough as it is! :p :)

Ok tell me, how many times do we need to post warnings before you guys stop insulting eachother ? and btw my english might be poor but I still can spot an insult/personal comment...when I read one ;)
Now let me remind you guys that we Mods have our life/family/job to take care and cannot be here 24/7 to check all posts. So when you guys are ignoring a warning, the only option left is to close the thread. Also if you haven't noticed, everyday we have to deal with loads of spammers and previous banned members trying to join with different username, and it takes loads of time to clean up all the rubbish posted and remove members. Is it so difficult to understand all this ? at the end of the day, we do all this work for free and for the good of the forum. How about some help and some understanding from you guys ? Is it too much asking ?
ps: The above lines are not directed at you BDunnell but to all members :)

Pino, I certainly very much appreciate your work. I know you had a difficult day yesterday, for example. ;) When members disagree with your decisions, it's not because we're ungrateful, it's just because we're people too, and people have opinions. But in the end, you're the boss.

I'm happy this thread hasn't been closed yet. It seems we need this little valve to blow off extra steam. ;) Good talk, so far.

I do think we're seeing a bit of over-zealousness, what with the warning, which again strikes me as completely unnecessary, to a couple of people in the whaling thread. Yes, there's a disagreement and it's become quite spirited, but there's nothing untoward.

As non-English speakers, they could probably post every insult under the sun and none of us would be any the wiser :D

Is 'supid' also a Geordie word? :) My Geordie to English Lexicon (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Transwiki:Geordie_dialect_words) doesn't include it.. There's 'sup' (to drink; a drop of sth), 'suppah', but no 'supid'.
Or did you just mean 'stupid'? :) If so, why?

Supid appears to be me struggling with my native tongue. I did mean stupid and didnt really mean it, just I would never call anyones thread idea stupid normally. So thought as this was our war thead I would get into the spirit.
Actually think its decent idea.

Anyway looks as though the geo thread has recovered from my indifference (not intentional, if I can go against the spirit of this thread and be concilliatory for a moment!)

Bit of a Lull on here. I guess I need to abuse someone, to get it going. ;)
So I guess as host EuroTroll must be the target.
So here goes. ET I hate your choice of thread titles. :p :

It's not my fault! :) Mark keeps editing them. :hmph: This used to be the "War Thread" you know, and the Homophobia thread was originally something different as well. :cheese:

We should all be thankful that Mark has stepped in to modify your dull and pointless titles!
I think these types of threads can be fun at times, and also help determine who can take a jab if it's all in fun. This forum has too many people that can give it but can't take it IMO. Some of the people that can be the most caustic and always bend/break the rules are the most sensitive even if you don't stoop to their level but have an opposing opinion.
