Superbike

After overcoming a bowel blockage  earlier in the week Carlos Checa took number one spot on the grid in fine weather conditions with a lap time of 1'30.234 on the Ducati Panigale 1199 , however, Laverty and Fabrizio on amazingly quick Aprilias were close behind with 5 others below 1'31.000 (Sykes, Melandri, Guintoli, Camier & Haslam).

Other riders are apparently considering having an enema in an effort to beat Checa.

Supersport

Lowes' qualifying lap time of 1'32.545 on the Yamaha YZF R6 was .6 sec quicker than Sofuoglu followed by Foret, Vd Mark, Kennedy and Salom all below 1'34.00.

It was good to see Rolfo on the MV Agusta F3 next in line.

Today, I'm a couch potato.

Pity that Checa came to grief in race 1 when he clipped the rear of Melandri's bike and was ko'd. He was flown to hospital in Melbourne for scans but seems ok. Excellent racing continued and ended with a trio of Aprilias on the podium, Guintoli, Laverty and Fabrizio.

Race 2 was just as good and ended with Laverty, Guintoli and Melandri mounting the podium and Fabrizio in fourth.

Early days yet but the Aprilia's are no doubt the fastest of the bunch to date.

The Supersport race was also great particularly between Lowes and Sofuoglu. Unfortunate that it was shortened to 15 laps.

Rolfo was doing really well on the MV Agusta until about L14 when either van electronic or mechanical failure occurred.
