I repeat my analysis from the start of the season - Citroen are the first team to consist of joint number 2s (constantly wondering when No1 feels like turning up)
As for Sordo's last quote - JML didn't seem to find a second pass problematic! (still waiting for his rock to turn up ;) )

just came back from today stages.
Not happy from what i watched at stages....but we will discuss it after the rally.
Suarez and Tideman absolutely flat out at every stage.Souarez a bit better today at where i watched, big balls from both.Very good passes from Fuchs.Kubica some times perfect(specially at fast parts) some not good(slow ones)
Mikkelsen ...dissapointed about his driving.Dont know if he is ok with his polo about setup, but seems to be a different driver from the one with fabia we watched last year.
Strange Acropolis with rain(today at Ziria2) and very cold weather at last night stage.
Dissapointed about the level of top drivers except Ogier, where he pushed he was perfect.

Maybe you should get someone to pick one for you, you didnt pick so well this time :)

Great to see Latvala and Kubica bringing it home, amazed at the lack on balls shown by Sordo, what happened the bullish Sordo from the start of the season who was going to retire if he didnt win an event this year? He can hope all day that Ogier has problems on tar to gift him the chance of a softer win but he needs to show that he has the speed to run at the front, and that he has the guts to use it.

The only thing worse than Citroens driver line up this year is the reality that there is no one out there to improve it for next year, there are arguably better drivers but appart from Loeb, Ogier and Latvala I really dont think there is anyone with the talent and experience ready to step up :(

My comment over results: Jari Mati Latvala fully deserved the win. Clean driving, no stupid attacks, no risking (still four best stage times, very good performance by him), definitely the best man over this weekend.
Sordo - a very positive surprise, he finaly woke up. Let's hope he will bring some more surprises over the second half of the season, as with the other driver from Citroen team I buried my expectations....
Neuville- to survive this terrible conditions (with Ford....) is a good result, especialy if you are on the podium.
Mikkelsen-very very fast today, otherwise he has to learn still a great deal of driving.
Al-Attiyah -this result was expected, he loves those conditions.
Ostberg- a lot of bad luck, but on the other hand he did not manage even one single best stage time. IMHO he was in the shadow of Novikov this weekend.
Miko Hirvonen - it makes no sense to comment his performance, after bad luck on friday he surrended himselve and was just on the ''cruise mode''.
Novikov- young Russian talent needs just some luck. The speed, the curage, the determination...he has it all....for me a future champion, but not with M-Sport car....
The least but not the last : Robert Kubica !! What a guy !! I admire the Pole-people started to lose hope for him (even on this forum !!), but he showed on the best way-convincing victory in WRC2 on the toughest rally of the season, on the surface, which he hardly knows. I was 100% that this moment will arrive, well done Robert! Congrats also to his co-driver, who is the only person, which knows what kind of effort is going through Robert...

Why have rules if teams should be allowed to not follow them?

What if the "decided by driving" means that the winner got benefits from violating the rules? Enough benefits to secure the victory?
Would it still be ok? Would it it still be a matter of decide by driving and where do you draw the line?

Driving and by the rules. Every time there are protests made it feels stupid, at least not best for the sport.

I disagree, Protesting against a possible rule violation is not what makes the sport look stupid.
A team that purposely or by mistake violates the rules is what makes the sport look stupid.

Protests occurs in most sports why should rally be an exception.

I also think that protests sometimes is to set a precedence, if its ok for a team to do whatever they did then the other teams can do it as well.
Just look at F1 and compare the amount of protest between the top teams in F1 and WRC.

I meant everytime there's protests, some team has violated the rules and that's wrong and bad for the sport. Nothing against the concept of protesting.

So did the VW's take an extra battery with them or am I misunderstanding something? ;)

Yea, but it looks like it's allowed to install the extra battery and the battery has to be in the car - which wasn't the case?

Cant see the logic in Citroen protesting Ogier's car if the issue was changing (to presumably a heavier and more powerful) battery in service before and for the night stage. Ogier's car was abandoned in stage 1 and awaiting recovery. Unless of course the night stage battery was fitted after qualifying stage and before SS1.

So where it was - in the trunk?

The only thing I found from the sporting and specific regulations is:
WRC specific regulations, chapter 5.8 (http://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/regulation/file/254A%20%282013%29.pdf)

“5.8 Electrical system
The nominal voltage of the electrical system including that of the supply circuit of the ignition must be retained. The addition of relays and fuses to the electrical circuit is allowed as is the lengthening or addition of electric cables.
Electric cables and their sleeves are free.

Battery
Make and type of battery:
The make, capacity and cables of the battery (ies) are free. (IMO several batteries are allowed)
The battery must be a dry battery.
The nominal voltage must be the same or lower than that of the standard production car.
The number of batteries laid down by the manufacturer must be retained. (Maybe this is the problem?)

Location of the battery(ies):
Its location is free.
If installed in the cockpit, the battery must be situated behind the base of the driver’s or co-driver’s seat.”

Btw, the pics from Acropolis rally I’ve seen on this thread are one of the most amazing rallying pics I’ve ever seen. :)
