Who are moderators on the rally part of the forum, and what rules and regulations do they follow to:
- close, delete or move a thread?
Is the creator of the tread or post informed, or is it done without a trace?
- delete or ban users?
Is the rest of the community informed to avoid speculation?
Is a user that is getting close to a ban border informed, so he has a possibility to do something with it, or is it just up to a Mod or Admin to do something, as they wish on a certain day?
Or is a ban discussed btw the Mods and admins before executed?

Would just be nice to know for the rest of us.

PS
would be nice to have a general issue sub-forum in the rally forum, to avoid using the ERC or WRC part. It soes not belong there imo.

Very good, accurate questions.

Wanted to clear things up as far as Jan goes. To my knowledge from speaking with him, Brother John wasn't part of his ban it had to do with something in the Chit Chat forum. But I know in the past I personally have had relevant and factual post deleted from here in the rally forum and I am not sure why.

Jan emailed me this morning:

What I find odd is that the "Not very Moderate Moderators" demand politeness and civility, and in complete contradistinction, show no politness or civility or even basic honesty in their actions toward people who "provide content"..In other words, aside from a brief note from the site owner regarding me responding to a total imbecile named "Danica Fan" to maybe cool it down in the Presidential Election thread ---which I did and simply stopped posting, I got no word at all , no nothing except a text when opening the site "You are banned, Ban will end : NEVER"

Now in light of the constant demands for civility and decorum, few things are really as un-civil and rude as to basically slam the door in somebody's face with no warning, and no explanation.

And it seems rather vindictive and extreme that one is banned from even reading the forum.

So I don't know.. Am I supposed to go crawling back and generally prostrate myself and beg forgiveness? To who. I believe it was Pino just from all the rather numerous PMs and messages from others who were similarly suddenly banned without explanation.
But who can say..since there was no explanation...

I evidently annoy the Right-wing extremist native born Americans in "Chit Chat" almost all of whom can write anything they want with evident total immunity. Any insult personally, any insult of intelligence to even the "forum level " and no action; and, evidently those few guys have the ear of somebody with the power to ban. Trolling is allowed if you're a Right-wing Extremist American, obviously.

Obviously the moderation of that forum, to put it very very mildly, sucks bigtime.

And like all forums there is no stated recourse, no method of disciplining of moderators, no explanation or logic in who gets demerits and bans and for what, and as we see, they can act in an extremely insulting manner with impunity..

Makes it a little odd to think about crawling back and kissing the boot of whoever it was that kicked you in the ass without warning--or fairness..

Maybe post this as a forwarded message to the rally guys from all over, I miss 'em, there a lot of good insight, good enthusiasm and for an old Internationalist like me that warmed my heart to see guys from the whole damn world sharing and talking and joking about things we're all a little crazy to be doing.
Tell them they are all welcome on our little rally world if they'd like to pop in and say hi.

If I'd like to ban anyone it's the right wing Americans tbh ;)

i think that when a member is banned would be better the reason to be known at other members. For sure can help.

Mark by the way,why the Loeb thread is locked?

That is a difficult exercise, taking on-board issues like politics and religion into the Mod job into a motorsport forum. Many interesting characters are attracted to speed and cars.
But as long as we all do not write here, what we might believe in other areas of life, would be best for all involved.

But Mark, neocons and such aside, are the Moderators working out of their own free will, or are they doing the job from a set of rules?

There aren't really any set rules as such as a moderators job is to clean spam and make sure there isn't too much fighting. It's not a moderators job to police opinions and decide the direction of discussion.

We are also all very much part timers (including perhaps especially myself) so we don't have a god like all knowing view of what's going on at all times.

I understand you can't work on this all day, and of course moderators can make a mistake (I can know ;) ) but isn't it possible to have a closer look on the bans of N.O.T. and janvanvurpa, and perhaps un-do them if that is possible? Nobody here knows why N.O.T. is banned. And in Janvanvurpa his case, isn't it possible to "open" the forum for him only for the rallying-section, if he is that annoying (I doubt he could be) in the chit chat part?

As I have said before any banned member is welcome to contact me to discuss the reasons why they banned and if appropriate ask for a reinstatement. Unbanning members isn't something I would do just from requests from others.
