1. One begins with letter "I" an another with letter "W"
2. One does exists (WRC) one does not exist anymore (IRC)

In Italy exist since 2003 the IRC - International Rally Cup. If I remember right, the known IRC had to change the name from "International" to "Intercontinental" due to that italian series in 2006, and I also think "Championship" was not allowed because IRC was not a FIA series ... :-)

Irc is dead and wrc is dying?

In all fairness I was a big fan of the IRC. I made my way from NASCAR-land to experience rally sanremo last year during my honeymoon. Had a great time. Hoping for big things from both the ERC(which is replacing IRC) and WRC next year.
