Can't say for certain, but i'm sure presenter Keith Huewen did say "see you next year" or words to that effect after Fontana. The previous contract expired at the end of 2012.

Hope Sky haven't signed up but they will because of the 500. they have had that for years. Even when CArt was on Eurosprt, Sky had exclusive rightts for the 500. I think they a signed a long term contract for the 500?

Indy and CART were separate entities and had separate TV contracts.

I just hope its not on Eurosport. I remember how bad they were for the CART and CCWS days. They did things like bumping half the race for a 4 day old replay of weightlifting or using in house commentators who didn't know the drivers names - Troy Kanaan anybody??! Or how about Al Under Jr.??

There was one guy that never got Penske right - ok it's a weird spelling, but they were one of the top teams for aaaages, were even in F1 for a bit, surely you must have a little knowledge to get a commentary job?!? The weird thing is that at around the time I was watching it on Eurosport, there was European coverage using a decent team, but half the time they just got their own guy who knew nothing. Of course once CART went bust they started dropping it at the last minute with no explanation for important events such as live dog racing (sadly not an exaggeration).
Not that the Americans always get peoples' names right either - I seem to remember them struggling with Ryan Dalziel on a number of occasions, and the Tony Kanaan episode of The Apprentice is just funny. Still annoyed that we have to refer to Viso as E.J. now too.
There's nothing wrong with Sky's actual broadcast team, the only issue is that they mostly just use the US broadcast, which aside from Robin Miller is kinda patchy.

Why do you hope they haven't signed up?

I dont want Sky having it, anyone else would be fine though. Wish Dave would pick it up or Five US channel. It'll never happen of course. I dont doubt Sky will be showing it next year.

Me too, but I doubt if it was a freeview channel like Dave, Five US or even ITV4 it would get ratings.

Sky's ratings are hardly stellar. I'll dig it out, but there's a useful blog that tracks the UK viewing figures and Indycar was as low as something stupid like 4000 for some races. From memory, even the 500 was at something like 20000. Their F1 stuff isn't doing much better when you consider the budget they've thrown at it. Wouldn't mind it on ITV4, as that already has a little bit of motorsport "history" with the BTCC.

My mate hadn't seen it, so we watched the penultimate IndyCar race this season. I asked him what I asked on this forum and he said he reckoed people would tune in because he thinks is more exciting than F1. I'd love to see it on ITV4 - as, one, it will be on one channel (instead of 4 one week, 2 the next, etc), and two, the commitment to the BTCC is wonderful, so they would show the same commitment.
