Just checked the map at weather.com, does not look good for having an uninterrupted race. :-(

they stop racing in NASCAR because of rain? or the intensity of the rain?

Yes they do. There are no rain tires, mostly because you could NOT RACE on an oval in the rain without it being a total demolition derby.

I got a feeling they'll get this entire race in "rain free".

My driver is sure getting lucky today. He's been about to go a lap down three times when the caution has come out to save his butt. This is by far is MK's worst track.

I've had a really good picture on TVU; a couple of stammers so far, one time it was a bit blocky after a restart but apart from that it's been good. It certainly hasn't been bad enought to subscribe to the Setanta cowboys...

We race pickups in the UK on ovals in the rain without it being a wreckfest...

It's a bitch to spot for though, with all the spray! :D

Well I think this ones over guys with Jr the winner. The rain is going to last a while and if it stops it's supposed to start again. So I can't see them having the time to dry the track and restart the race. :(

Abo

I hear the track dryers are out...

Those things are *loud*, I remember the ones at the 2001 Rockingham 500 Champ Car race. LOUD

how late does it stay light? No lights at Martinsville.

(I admit, as stupid as this is from a race fan's point, I would rather have Jr. win due to a rain stoppage, then see another Jimmie Johnson win, which will probably happen when it goes green again.)

R. Mears

Here's the radar. Martinsville is just to the left of danville. The white cross in the middle of the screen. They may have time after all. :D

He clarified that it was a statement from Nascar. The bigger problem is if the foam smulders are the fumes toxic as was reported last week?

some people here obviously have never watched montoya race before. There is a reason why McClaren fired him and he is stuck making 1/10 the money he made in F1. McClaren finally gave up on him for continually wrecking there cars. Everyone hates his guts also. He ruined the usgp all by himself last year.

How much do you think McLaren pays? If he has a poor year in Cup, he'll make $7-8mil, probably a little over $10mil. in his rookie year.

thanks e2mitt.

a lot to learn still.

I'm glad for Juan and I don't quite understand the repercussions of him being involved on "spinning' the other guy - sorry, I don't remember his name - but it looks like a normal racing incident - but then again, I don't know what the proper ettiquette (?) is when racers are on that situation or if Juan just did what he had to do.

any way . . . .

looking foreard to next weekend with bith Juan and F1 on the schedule.

I can't answer. Because I don't understand what you mean. Oh well, maybe I shouldn't take you so seriously. :)

It's stilla bit funny that he found the time to voice his opinions over the radio while racing him hard. Or maybe that's what make s a great racing driver. I don't know, but I'll find it out. :vader:

Pretty interesting race I thought with plenty of talking points. One thing did baffle me though - NASCAR throws a caution every week for invisible debris and yet when Sterling Marlin was spun out they didn't throw the caution. It cost Sterling a decent finish so I'm none too pleased. If one of the Hendrick cars had spun would the caution have been thrown...?

I saw several spin outs during the race that the caution never came out. Also a few flat tires that the caution didn't come out either. I guess it's easy to be biased with your favorite driver and vice versa for the drivers we don't like. ;)

yes it was odd why they didn't throw the caution for Sterlings spin, they did it for just about everyone else. but MB2 is still the Hendrick B-Team, so I'm shocked Nascar didn't throw the caution
