Just read the post that Al Speyer is saying that he thinks Indycar is preparing to throw Firestone out and sign with another tire supplier, even after Firestone has indicated they'd like to extend their contract all the way to 2020. If this is true, the new tire company better be the new naming sponsor for the Indycar Series or somebody has some real "splaining" to do. The series cannot afford to play musical chairs with loyal sponsors. Now, if another tire supplier would be ADDED to the mix, that could be interesting. A Firestone-Goodyear tire war could add a little spark to the series much like the engine mfr. contests. NAW! Ain't gonna happen.

They can't kick out Firestone can they? That would be stupid unless the new supplier signs a multi year contract, supplies tyres for free, and chucks loads of money at the series as title sponsor....

This wouldn't be good.

This wouldn't be good at all, I hope that this is only one of those stupid rumors again..

Could it be little negotiating tactic to get better deal? I think yes.

I wouldn't call Firestone a loyal sponsor.
Remember it wasn't that long ago that they were about to walk and IndyCar had to give them all kinds of concessions to stay.

The wheel rims don't wear well at 200+ at Indy.
