So what would be the best approach for Pajunen? Push like hell in his first S2000 start and get the most out of that chance - and perhaps win or retire - or take a more calm approach, drive clean and secure a podium in an event with such weak entry. Technical issues would be the worst case.

Sordo was part of the IRC event because in that time there was an agreement between Prodrive and Eurosport that Prodrive will register Mini after Tour de Corse. They have never done it so since then no Minis are part of the IRC classification (Snijers, Pech, Tamrazov).

So again. Mini is not registered so drivers with Mini are not part of the IRC event. Simple as that. Rallies like Ypres or Barum didn't make separated entry lists for all championships run there but otherwise it was same - no Mini in the IRC event. The itinerary seems to be same for both events.

From Nicola Arena's fb page: I am in Yalta instead, for the IRC event, where I will codrive Alex Tamrazov in his new Mini. But we won't start the IRC event, only the Ukrainian championship one, which is shorter.

What I see from different sites (unfortunatelly official site is under deep reconstruction before the rally :rolleyes :) , that Ukrainian championship stage is really shorter:

IRC time table includes several more stages:
Prime Yalta Rally 2012 - Time table - Rally-Base (http://rally-base.com/2012/prime-yalta-rally-2012/time-table/)

Too many reasons. IMHO political issues not the last one. Also probably some organisation issues from the last year Yalta rally.
And looks like general IRC rally issues, such as loosing interest to it from main players because standing picture is quite clear.

On the other hand do you really learn anything if you are just driving to finish? Why did they chose this event? Just because a good result was possible because of poor entry?
I think it would be better to chose an event with a better entry so he could compare the speed properly.
Regarding the poor entry, I really think IRC need to reduce the size of the calendar maybe maximum 10 events (7-8 to count) to avoid embarrassments like this weekend.

Only eight best counts, so Skoda should have still 325, Peugeot 187 (OK), M-Sport 137, Subaru 110 (OK), Renalut 109, Honda 43 (OK).

It was a bit diasppointing that none of the IRC regulars decided to appear. You'd think that with Mikkelsen missing the event, his nearest rivals would leap at the opportunity to take some points out of his lead.
Still, it was nice tos ee some lesser-known talent get a moment in the spotlight.

But dont forget, that Mikkelsen is the lonly driver who did ALL IRC events since Madeira 2010 until last Barum! Yalta is his first missing event since two years, so more shame that Skoda Motorsport was not there. But its a fact, that some more drivers like Wiegand etc should take the chance in absence of Skoda UK and CZ to win an IRC event. Same for Sliven Rallye, looking forward to that entry list.

Well, it's unfair !
Protasov blocked him on purpose of course. If Avci passed him he could make big time on Protasov on this stage.
Protasov was hoping to rebuild the car in service and lose as minimum as possible time to Avci.
That's my way of explanation of the video. Unfair but ...
Protasov seems a very risky and inconsistent driver.
Consani did a very good job on this rally. Also impressed by the progress of the lady driver Stratieva. She was not bad at Barum. Now good ride as well.

Škoda Motorsport is not doing full IRC since 2010. It was decided to let UK team doing much more rounds. Obviously they don't want to catch Mikkelsen, just to beat him occasionally seems to be enough for them...
Anyway there were at least some regulars, just none of the top. For example Consani, Tempestini or Pushkar are doing a lot of IRC events this season.

I'm very much interested to see who will come to Sliven rally Bulgaria.
Seems like no one of the top names is planning to do it.
I guess Avci, Bostanci, Cosma, Consani, Tempestini, Aigner will be there... but who else is still a big question.
AFAIK Sliven is not in Aigners plans, he will appear in cyprus again.

Strange ... because the images on IRC Website are on a very different place, there must be some kilometers between ...
Or its the second mistake of Protasov on different stage??

I think it is the same, because he crashed on SS10 and in the interview Protasov said that next stage they couldn't manage to go to reach service. So they retiered after SS10 and SS11 they didn't go at all.

I think Protasov blocked Avci twice, once on SS9 with the flat tire, he didn't want to change it.. SS10 they blocked him then after the off and was going slowly with the damaged suspension (?). SS11 I think he started till the suspension was completely broken (Solberg-Style) and retired on stage.

Its a videos from different stages. First video from official IRC site is SS10 Sokolinoye after Protasov has a small crash, second video from SS9 Opolznevoje after Protasov has puncture.

I think there was no other option to be fair.

Cosma was 4th overall after SS11 with a small C2, finished 5th at the end. Not bad neither!

Not good at all for the entry list of Sliven Rally !
Aigner is a good driver and makes nice results in Production Cup.

Good result for Cosma as well but Consani won some stages beating the S2000 cars.

Aigner being absent and Consani going well on that asphalt, he can get the double with that! But Sliven and Yalta are sad rallies for the IRC with those entries.
