Nice list but the the seeding is disaster (Magalhaes for example).

Wim_Impreza
5th October 2012, 18:45
Magalhaes isn't so fast in events outside Portugal. Only Harry Hunt and probably Janos Puskadi are slower than him who are ahead of him in the list. In my opinion, the only drivers who really has bad numbers are Robert Consani, the leader in the IRC Production Cup and the IRC 2WD Cup, and most of the DS3 drivers.

Magalhaes isn't so fast in events outside Portugal

He was 5th last year at Sanremo, ahead of Scandola! and lying 3rd overall in Ypres until his engine broke down....thats not so fast outside of Portugal, I see :D :D :D

Wim_Impreza
5th October 2012, 19:45
Last year he had the support of Peugeot Sport Portugal and he did a lot of IRC rallies. This year he only did 2 rallies, so he also lacks competition rhythm.

He only did 1 stage in Ypres 2011 (he retired in the second SS) and was 4th in that stage, not 3rd... You can't say that he was on a way to do a very good rally in 1 short stage. 5th overall was his best IRC result of 2011, that is not that impressive.

I bet he will be more than 1 s/km faster than Puskadi. More than 0,5 s/km faster than Hunt. Faster than Turán, Bouffier (with R2 no chance). Maybe other but I'm totally sure about these seeded in front of him. Don't forget that there is 44 km long stage in the night on first day! The differences are always in minutes (remember Basso being 30 seconds faster than anyone else!).

Tempestini, Heloise, Pushkar in front of Aigner. He can catch more than one in Ronde. Vescovi behind Kogler, Crugnola behind Danzinger, Navrátil in front of Campedeli, Campana behind Turán...

I really hope they change starting order for Ronde otherwise it's going to be very bad...

Logical like Tolis says then everyone has a title, main objectives were also clear at begin of the season and people who have good sources around Skoda have confirmed that too. And yes it's quite a shame because Juho had brilliant performances this year and Andreas have made quite alot of mistakes.

Skoda Motorsport dont go to Cyprus, its confirmed, so Andreas is IRC Champion. Skoda UK (seems Skoda Italy too), will close after that season.

What about predictions?? IMHO my secret favorite is U.Scandola, he showed on last few CIR rallyes top performance, also very relaible, no mistakes. He was constantly faster then Andreucci, who is the benchmark for other drivers in Italy. Still, he is becoming older, therefore he is not able to stand against Kopecky, Hanninen and even Basso. By the way-will be Basso in RRC Fiesta?? If this is the case, than he has the most chances to win. The stages are as tailor-made for the RRC performances & capabilities.....

Škoda Rally Team Italia (team of Zanchi) did only servicing of Škoda UK car. The car itself was factory one. Only in first season with Wilks they used Italian car. There is another Škoda Motorsport Italy team which is completely different one (car of Scandola). Not an easy situation :)

Why? Next year is waiting for R5s and than the big party starts again.

Škoda Motorsport will do several events next year (less than this year). There's a chance Basso could start with RRC and sure Peugeot joins at the second half of year with first R5. I'm very positive about the future despite 2013 being another weak year.

I think Kopecký is also very strong, but it isn´t clearly visible because he focused on czech championship. I think that this year he is stronger than during seasons 2010 and 2011 (my personal feeling) Anyway we all know his weakness ("sleeping" during morning) He will drive using his head and waiting for mistakes of those two crazy men (Basso and Hanninen)

Yes, that's really weird for mainly asphalt series. The more he will stay forever as champion thanks to the team strategy. This year IRC, was decided in a Skoda boardroom. They split the championships amongst the drivers. Saved a lot of travelling expenses and probably some cars too. Except some good media coverage, IRC has been a farce.

I never thougt that he could be that fast. Faster than Crugnola and Campedelli on SS 3. Incredible. And he´s driving the Clio for the first time. Would be nice if he would get a proper car in Austria, not only these VW CNG or Diesel cars.

At begin of Season I never though he can win the Championship this year. But as you know (and I know him since 1993!), he is now an very old fox with a lot of experience, and made some things with tactics. But ... when I see the Video sideways which was posted before ... strange!

Basso / RRC: We all know that sometimes turbo engine has big + against S2000. I was surprised after San Marino (same Situation with Basso/Mikkelsen), that the Team Skoda UK when I asked them if that fight, S2000 against RRC Turbo, they never found a word that RRC should be forbidden for future with that regulation. So ... I though OK, 2 different cars, but both with + & -.

If Kopecky wins, Mikkelsen need 5th place (best 8 results), if Hanninen wins, he should be 6th or 7th, but ... as far as I know both Skoda Motorsport are not there.

Oh really? Well that's a bit of an joke then if they are not even bothered fighting for it.

Only question is the possibility that Basso goes there. Then he can take second place from Kopecky and there is a high possibility that Ford takes second place from Peugeot (if basso goes there and wins).

No need for Basso for getting second in manufacturers, there should be Ford-army of FIA MERC drivers, so M-Sport's chances are high.

Craig Breen has won the Colin McRae, IRC Flat Out Trophy for his performance at IRC Sanremo.

Breen was competing in IRC for the first time since his best friend and then co-driver Gareth Roberts died in an accident on IRC Targa Florio in June.

He finished sixth in the event, co-driven by Paul Nagle in a Sainteloc Peugeot 207 S2000:

“I’m delighted to have made the finish ramp here in Sanremo. This has been a very difficult week for me, my first time back to drive the Peugeot 207 and my first time in Italy since the accident. Driving on the same type of roads brings back so many memories of that day in June. I’m very happy with my performance, it was a pity to pick up the puncture this morning, I’m sure we could have secured a position or two higher only for that."

"“It’s been a hugely emotional couple of weeks, days, months, hours since what happened in Sicily. To make my IRC comeback in Italy was very strenuous but I’m truly honoured to receive this prize for a host of different reasons. The weekend has surpassed my expectations in terms of the speed we’ve shown – just getting to the finish was a big achievement and I will cherish this award. I grew up in the Colin McRae era. He was a hero and I remember being Colin McRae on the PlayStation. This is a very big award for me.”

"I would like to thank, the organisers of the rally, the IRC, Team Sainteloc and my co-driver this weekend Paul Nagle.”

Never been a more deserving winner. :s pin:

Hellou hellou...

My humble request is concerning about car n.50 (Pajunen-Lindström). We need one "nice looking" shot (HQ printable) from the car (from the course or from the servicepark)? Tell us yours demands (about money and copywright) and we will get back to you? The picture will be used in Mikko's wall calendar for season 2013. The photographers name will be shown on the picture.

It's not an issue. All decided a long time ago.

Seems like Škoda finally decided to send all three crews to the island. Not confirmed though.

... and I know that most of Fabia R2 drivers don't speak very good about the chassis of it. The engine and gearing is very good but especially on our roads it's like a ping-pong ball...

I think is like a ping-pong ball on any kind of road, but it is very quick still. But wasn't the Fiesta like that in the beginning too.
