View Full Version : Introducing myself to the BTCC...

Evening all,

My name's Scott Mitchell, I'm a 20-year old journalism student. I've been a Touring Car fan since I was a little kid - my Dad used to bring back VHS' from various trips to shows and events, and by about 14 I'd watched pretty much every season from '94-2006 several times over, and could name every champion back to 1990. I was rather smitten.

Now I'm at a stage where I'm writing about it. I'm trying not to make this sound like a plug, but I will be covering the British Touring Car Championship on behalf of F1, BTCC, MotoGP, BSB, WTCC, DTM, British GT, Britcar, Le Mans, NASCAR, GP2 and more - The Checkered Flag (http://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk) for the rest of the 2012 season, alongside the first term of my final year of university. I say this because I've only ever been to a few BTCC races live - and I'd love to hear some of your stories from when you've been to the track. I'm going to Snetterton to report trackside and it'll be my first time reporting from the circuit; I'll be staying nearby in a Travelodge. I don't know if anyone's doing the same after qualifying Saturday but either way I'd love to meet some fans at the track. I'm pretty much in my dream job - just need to be paid! - and I would love to be able to do so when I graduate.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you. I hope I do the series justice in my reporting, and I look forward to chatting Touring Cars with as many people as possible! If anyone's interested, here's the first of my stories for TCF as BTCC correspondent. It's an interview with Rob Austin, who talks about the financial problems dogging his team, and why he thinks they can and will win races in 2012.Financial Threat Real But Rob Austin Racing Confident Of Success - BTCC - British Touring Car Championship - The Checkered Flag (http://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2012/07/financial-threat-real-but-rob-austin-racing-confident-of-success/)

Hope to hear from people/see them soon,

Best,

Scott
