Just a few questions I would like some input on all fans from no matter what your favorite type of racing is. I am sure we are all aware of the fact speed is showing soccer this morning instead of their usual lineup of reruns. Is this a sign of things too come? Are we going to see more of this on speed? Do you welcome this or not? Finally is this a sign of just how far in popularity racing (nascar in particular since it is the main subject of the channel) has fallen? If NASCAR can no longer pay the bills the entire sport in this country when it comes to tv might be in big trouble.

I think it's just like when the Olympics is showing events on networks that never show sports. There is so much going on at the same time. The network (in this case Fox networks which also own Speed) was showing soccer because it was the final day of the EPL season and all games by rule start at exactly the same time on this important day. There were EPL games also on FSN, FX, Speed, and Fox Soccer (of course). ESPN2 (not owned by Fox) also had the Man City-QPR game.

It's just this particular day, not a sign of things to come.

Well... the morons do.

Football Federation Australia Home (http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/)
It's... Football Federation Australia

Sport News: NRL, Super 15, Cricket, A-League, Wallabies, Socceroos (http://www.smh.com.au/sport)
On Fairfax websites the relevant sport section is Football.

But only in some News Ltd newspapers like Melbourne's Herald-Sun or Sydney's Daily Telegraph it's soccer, but it's usually the illiterate newspapers:

I think the difference is obvious.

So in that case, since the official nickname of your national team is the Socceroos, are you saying they were named by morons or that they are morons? :p ;) :)

Yes... and yes :D

Why the official nickname of the national team is still the Socceroos despite an official change of name by the governing body is totally beyond me. It's also worth noting that the chap who came up with the nickname was the journalist Tony Horstead who at the time was working for the The Daily Telegraph which was/still is a moronic newspaper.

This from a nation whose highest selling beer is named incorrectly. "Victoria Bitter" is actually a lager; a not very good one other.

I believe Speed cut away and missed the driver interviews after the race. The immediately cut to the soccer/football game. That's what p!ssed me off. I watched the race on DVR, so I had no opportunity to see the interviews. I think there's a replay this week some time. So I'll tape the entire race again, just to skip to the end and watch the interviews!

It's fine if the other Fox outlets cover other sports. But for Speed to now be covering soccer... Other than F1 and GP2, I hardly ever watch Speed anymore anyway. The best news I got this weekend was that as a DirecTV subscriber, I can now get Speed 2. :bounce: So to get back to what Speedvision was before Fox bought the channel, and mucked it up, I'll have to watch non-F1 (and non-NASCAR) related motorsports programming on my computer. But that's OK. I paid almost as much for this second monitor as I paid for my last TV, so I might as well get some use out of it. At least I can avoid all the goofy, retarded, reality TV crap that fills up Speed when F1 (or NASCAR) isn't on.

...As for American football, isn't that rugby with pads? :p

No.
Although the rules are conceptually similar to rugby, American football would be impossible without pads and helmets.

As for Speed TV, I rarely watch anything on the channel anymore :s . I'd watch F1, but TSN has exclusive rights to the event broadcasts in Canada so they're blacked out on the Speed channel.
TSN merely picks up the BBC feed which is alright, but I've always preferred the Speed TV commentary, including their pre-race show.
To be honest, if Speed TV wasn't included in our channel bundle, I'd drop it :s

If it wasn't for F1 I would drop speed like a bad habit.
