Epynt is the windiest place known to man. Apparently the military go to Antartica to train for their time on the Welsh ranges.
Looking forward to this one, unlikely to get there until about the 3rd stage but that should still see 4 good runs of a top entry list. I remember a time when you would ocassionally see one or two Darriens at a tarmac event, think I counted 9 for this one!

Weather is looking dry, and may even be warm. Dose not sound much like Epynt to me lol.
Getting excited now, not been up the ranges for 2 years

Just seen this on FB through RallyMad Photography...
important announcement for regarding motorsport....
port talbot motor club have been advised that there is NO camping on epynt ranges for this sundays TOUR OF EPYNT RALLY......anyone found on there camping etc by MOD police will be removed immediatly and the events on MOD land are in enough jeopardy at the moment
guys, i can tell you that the future of motorsport on M.O.D land is hanging by a th...read...... talbenny has gone, pendine has gone, caerwent is going after next event..... and soon it may well be epynt....i know most of you are marshals or competitors but if we lose epynt also then rallying is going to be bleak... its hard enuff now to get events sorted out etc without losing epynt.
...
i have been speaking to ALAN STONEMAN who asks please, do not camp up there or go onto the ranges until you have been instucted to with regards to singning on of officals/marshals/competitors etc....if anyone wants further info, feel free to contact alan....
please pass this on to all you know within motorsport, even at a spetating level
please like this post and pass it on to show people the support that we have to keep rallying going !!

Well said. Having been cought out on Epynt, being erly for a rally, and seeing army traing close at hand. I do not understand anyone who wants to camp in the middle of Epynt (warzone).
We have to respect the place. Dont camp, Keep of army propity. Green sheds at Dixies. German Village, old tanks etc.

Well what a tour of Epynt, sunburnt neck, and nose in MArch.
Walked miles today, watched from Dixies, bottom of Steps, start of stage 5,
halfway between, Picadilly and Burma road, then over to Bartons jump, Pattersons Devils leap, however the hell you know it.
Must say a great battle between Melvyn Damion Peter and Steve. But Melvyn Evans was in a diffrent league.
Arrived 5 mis after Chris Jones had stuck the Focus Sti on its roof. Crew very lucky. Car slid off road upside down, took a ditch and a big mound right in the driverside windsreen, whilest being upside down. Folded the roof and screen down towards drivers head. There was not much room in there on Chris's side. Lucky the roll cage up the A piller and over the door stood up to the impact. Or it would of been nasty.
A cracking day out, and of course your normal chav spectators stood anywhere that was dangerous.
One of the best days rallying ive had in a long time. Video to follow

Why/how can anyone take your comments seriously when you write with the skills of a 3 year old ?

Sorry i feel i offended you.
But why would you not take the comment seriously, unless your one of the ***** thats wants to cause trouble for rallying, in such places as Epynt.
I will say no more. Other than i enjoyed my day up there Sunday.

The more pertinent question would be: Why are you being a dick when he was clearly making a reasonable point?
Anyway, had a good day yesterday, but one of my worst days for photography in a long time. For some reason I was really struggling to get any shots that I was happy with. Even panning shots (usually my 'go to' style when I can't think of anything else) weren't coming out very well. Managed to finally get a few decent ones on the last stage when we watched by a jump...although it felt like cheating by putting it on auto focus and continuous shooting :D
Mel Evans was clearly going to win it or bin it, completely on it all day and just looked streets ahead of anyone else. The one other driver that really impressed was a red Nova, only saw him once through Stage 3 over Deer's and he was fully committed. I commented to the old man about not expecting to see him again, sadly I turned out to be right.
One final special mention for the dickhead car park marshall that instructed us to park on the left about 1 mile from Dixie's, and then proceeded to walk off from his post. What really ****ed me off was that we passed about 20-30 spaces between where he was stood and the stage. If he hadn't been there then he would have saved an awful lot of us a big load of effort (especially returning to the car to move over the other side for Stage 6). I actually parked further away for this event than I did for Rally GB, all because some car park bloke wasn't paying attention.
Anyway, pics:

Cracking pics there.
Yes also agree about the dick carpark marshel, as i to was further away than i was for Rally GB. Although i decided to leave the car there all day. Walked Dixies, down the Steps towards the stage start. It was only once i had walked to Picadilly that i remberd how far the car was. About 4 mile back, mainly up hill. My legs are aching today lol.
Video will follow, when youtube is done uploading. Only 900 mins left lol
Also i have seen some dull spectators , but lying down on the outside of a steep downhill adverse camber fast right hander, below road level. Between Bartons jump, and Devils going towards Dixies. Well this is why rallying on Epynt hangs by a thread.

I know the corner, first time I went to Epynt we saw a VW Beetle slide straight on at that corner...think the co-driver broke an arm. There were quite a few in silly places yesterday, my old man made a comment about whether you should actually tell them that they are in a stupid place or not. The problem you have is that if you tell them and nothing happens then you look like an arse...but if you stay quiet and they get hurt then you're going to wish that you'd said something.

I rember the Beetle, was it not the worman codriver broke her leg. Held the stage up quite a while, and going in the oppiste direction.

A fantastic days Rallying, and the organisers even sorted out the weather.... ;)
Agree with some of the points raised; got there about 7:40, and expected to park at Dixies, on the grass verge were I normally park. Instead we were instructed to park on the road?????, when there were plenty of spaces at Dixies??.
As for some of the speccies; oh dear, having been told not to stand on the right hand side of the stage after a jump (Barton's, I think) None of them moved.....and some even lying in a ditch to take photos....

Ok, granted, it's not the most clearly written post on the forum, but I think most people understand what is being said and the point being made is very valid. You should also consider that said poster looks to be from Wales, and therefore English might not be their first language! The forums exist for people to discuss motorsport, so let's do that and not nit-pick.
Why not tell us about how much you enjoyed the event? Which driver/car impressed you most?

Glad you enjoyed the day .I can only watch events with envy via Youtube nowadays due to living in Canada, but I've competed there many times with a few trophies in the cabinet,it's got to be the best tarmac venue on the mainland.
Nothing wrong with a couple of beers after a great days sport.

Another vote of disapproval for that idiot marshal controlling the car parking at Dixies! We arrived at 07:45 with the intention of parking on the Centre Road between Dixies and Burma Road - as we were fully entitled to do according to the Spectator Guide, only for chummy boy to stop us approx 200yds from Dixies. Thankfully we just ignored him and carried on which saved us alot of walking.

Having heard about some very serious incidents which occurred on Boucles de Spa, I think you made the right decision keeping quiet!
Anyway, here's a selection of my images from the event:
