<Denial>
All season tires are summer tires.
Get yourself a set of proper winter tires.

errr... I'm innocent :D

In fact, I believe our policy is that we don't do all-season tyres for Europe... only Summer or Winter* or Nordic.
Our "all-season" tire lines are for the likes of the US, where they don't have much clue yet about true WInter tires.

* How anyone can think a >18" W Rated Winter tyre is a true Winter tyre is another matter though :p

I think those Central European winter tires are usually on cars that some Finns like to buy from Germany secondhand, because they are "cheap". What they fail to understand is that they are partly "cheap" because they aren't equipped for Nordic winters.

HALTO!!! ein augenblick mi pobre Burritito!
We have been having a little tiny discussion on our little rallyforum over here across the Atlantic, and I am informed by some Canajians---where it is snow 7 months a year usually----that in regards rally in winter that "It is quicker non studded" and that "Studs are for pussies" .....My definition of true winter tires being something like is common in Swedish or Finnish winter events. But those boys are right on top of the latest technology, and they know how to go fast, and they say modern studless is faster....

You're a amigo I can trust, you can break it to me, are those tires in the photo junk, and am I crazy???
And why do all the top WRC drivers, the whole field persist in such ancient technology?

Je entendez votre response, Burritisiomo mio.

I'll bet in most cases competitors would use them if they could. At Sno*Drift this year the 0 car was driving around on Lappis.

I have often suspected Donkey was trying to kill us, though never did I think it was with his tyres! :D

I used to blame Donkey for the performance (0% grip) of my previous set of tyres.
These tyres were designed in Japan but most probably his Japanese cousin was involved :evil:

Just having good tyres makes a difference. I've got from a set of "Sunny" (who?) tyres to Michelin Pilot Sport and the difference in grip is immense!

those are true winter rally tires with rally spikes and to be honest I don't know much about them except a fellow Spanish donkey (nickname was "speedy" González but that's another story :p ) developed the Trophée Andros tyres a few years back when Conti became the tire supplier.
I guess they'd provide better grip so long as you're on ice or deepish snow, but would lose much of their advantage on compacted snow and would be crap if they dig down to the tarmac. The old mechanical (pattern or studs) vs compound (softer is better but can't hold studs) dilemma :)
