View Full Version : [CIR] 35º Rally Di San Marino

[Madeira-Rally]
24th March 2007, 11:58
Rally Di San Marino is the second round of CIR 2007.

The biggest new for this rally is that Travaglia will enter with a EVO IX from Rally Project Team.

And Perico will start wit a EVO IX instead of 207 S2000... I thing Twister Corse Peugeot isn't ready yet...

It will be interesting to see how Subaru boys will do in this Gravel rally... Longhi is an expert on gravel and for sure he wants to clean the bad image Subaru left in Ciocco...

And it's the first Gravel Rally for Rossetti with the 207 S2000... let's see what he can do against Gr N Cars..

I think it will be a very hard rally for Basso... because he don't have the right pace for gravel rallys... in the past years he was running only in tarmac rallys (exception to Rally Turkey last year, which was a disaster)...

I think the big battle will be between Ralliart Italy official drivers and Subaru Italy official Drivers.

Don't forget about last year's Rally of Poland (http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=1609&pg_[go]=29) , where Basso was easily beaten by Kuzaj, Svedlund and Solowow:

If you look clooser entry list for rally San Marino, it is something to see-close to 80 cars in specifikacion N4, S2000 and S1600. I'm going with some friends to see this live! Yust five days, and here we come San Marino, or better Sant'Angelo in Vado!

A lot of fast drivers with similar cars, much more exciting than some French drivers on 206 or 307 WRC. Battle for top 10 will be interesting!

Does anybody remember #39 - Emanuele Dati?

I remember him...

He drove for Ralliart Italy some years agor.. and he did some WRC rallys with a Focus WRC, with Max Chiapponi who co-drive Enrico Bertone for many years...

I didn't noticed that he is back, but it's great to see Dati is back!

Good memory Paulo!
You can see the Focus here:

But I don't think Dati will be very fast in San Marino. There's tough competition and he had a long break...

I remember him too, but he wasnt out. In 2002 he was competing in italian championship with Subaru Impreza STI, in 2004 with Lancer Evo VII, VIII and Impreza and I remember him from 2005 with Evo VIII and Focus WRC on Rally Tutta Toscana.

Seeing what Bruno Magalhaes is doing at the moment with the 207 on portuguese gravel, I really wonder what Luca Rossetti will do with it on italian gravel tomorrow :D

By the way, pictures of the cars being prepared ;)

The results aren't working at 100% but...
We can follow the rally here
http://www.rallysanmarino.com/risultati/tempi/2007/

As in Ciocco... Andreucci will be the man to beat.. ;)

Rossetti is very far away from the lead and from Basso...

And once again.. Subaru start the rally very bad... AGO had a broken turbo :(

[Madeira-Rally]

Live results seem to be working ok now...

Andreucci faster once again.. and his team mate 2nd.. Ralliart Italy is really very strong this year.

Travaglia is going quite well...

No chance for S2000 on Italy... (on gravel stages)

It seem problems for Andreucci in SS 5

So.. Andreucci Retired in SS3...

Longhi is "conformable" on the lead..

Rossetti.. is a little bit off the pace... compared with others S2000...

If anyone could translate this:
Andreucci "stacca" una ruota sulla ps.5 e sta procedendo lentamente verso il fine prova...

It comes from http://www.rallylinkforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9625 with all the latest news of the rally.

It's a pitty for Andreucci, he has BIG title chances and it would be dumb for FIAT because they "kicked" him out of the team...
Basso doing well in 2nd and Longhi filling in all expectations leading the rally. Rosetti is 5th, he doesn't have to push for the championship.

Any video/pics?

I'm really disappointed by Rossetti's pace in the 207 S2000 at the San Marino rally :(

He's 6th overall after SS9(first leg) at 1 minute off leader Piero Longhi, but even worse, the Fiat Grande Punto S2000 of Basso is far in front(2nd overall)... :mark:

The 207 is therefore very faster than this on gravel(Magalhaes shows it yesterday and today) :s

I hope an improvement from Luca Rosseti tomorrow :mark:

Translation: Andreucci lost a wheel running slowly into the end of stage

Andreucci has left Fiat because his "old" sponsor, whose name is ERG is not compatible with API, one of the main sponsors of The Fiat.

Vovos and papadimitriou also retired...both due to differential problems....

Maybe they are dumb at FIAT, but they are equally dumb at Mitsubishi for letting Travaglia go. Can you imagine Andreucci and Travaglia in one team? A dream team I would say :)

I don't know if you noticed, but the Polish driver Andrzej Mancin is still in the rally. He has done some test drives with Jani Paasonen right before the rally, but it's hard to see any improvement in his driving :) You can see him somewhere near 30th position...

Piero Longhi was the winner, great result for him and Subaru after the bad start that he had in the first round of the championship.
Brilliant result for Renato Travaglia, second place for him, he has beaten in the last stage Giandomenico Basso, but he doesn't score any point because he is not registered in the championship!!.
It looks next week, he will announce the entry in the IRC.

Why not? If you look in Italy the Mitsu can beat an S2000, it's all up to the driver and some luck of course... ;)

During the event I didn't noticed that it was raining...

I think that with rain, the thinks become harder for S2000 cars...
What's your opinions?

Thanks for the image.

About the rain, I don't now. But the driver makes the difference. In portugal the Pug was dominating... Rumours say that in Belgium Larry Cols will drive a Mitsu N4 in the TAC rally next rally. Hope this is true, because we wil see how it compares to the Polo of Freddy Loix. Pieter Tsjoen will be there to with a Punto, but it will be his first km's, so it won't be a reference. Hope Kris Princen will be there in his Clio R3 (if it is ready), we will see some great battles and I will be there to, to watch of course :D
