jump at 43 is on the 1.46 km of thiva

the 1.22 and 1.44 are from shakedown last year and the year 2009...not used this year

The minute 6.35 shows the place i intend to go in vauxites.It's a place without trees and the stage in that place goes downhill.I have seen vauxites several times but it will be the first time in that place.If you love strange incidents, some meters before the asfalt section you can find an s-turn.Its not spectacular point but i have seen there cars have an exit(most of the times without damages,even the 0 car).Here some photos of the point

of course!!The stage its about 1+hour from nafpaktos.The stage starts at 12,22 a.m so i will start at 7,30 a.m from my home and i will be there before 9,22a.m(this is the time the organisers do not permit the acces to vechicles in the stage).Where do you plan to go????

have not decide yet.But i dont use to be closed inside a stage.Trying to see as more as possible,i am watching all wrc cars even the fast s2000 and go to next stage.last year i managed to watch 11 stages if i remember right(+Latvala tests+shakedown :D )

About the angle of the camera i think u have right. Next time i will be more carefull.

2.13: Is on Stage Ghymno. First Hairpin after the start (some hundred meters.) I was there 2009, was a very nice spot.

This spot is the uphill hairpin after the village Agios Vasileios I think.

Splash at 1.26 is also not always there I guess? Anyone knows where? Looked like a spectator area, lots of people.

I really hope you are wrong! I was planning a visit this year but finally i canceled the trip due to work issues.

The new government have to understand that the Acropolis Rally is good for the economy and can attract a lot of tourism like your islands, beaches and history do, and exposure on international media.

They should not cut efforts that could bring economic benefits to the local business!

generally no... Greece doesn't have poisonous snakes apart from adders... which look like that...spiders and scorpions are not poisonous to an extend that should be considered a threat if you are not allergic.

Just arrived from the stages...saw thiva up to 12.5 km and Kinetta up to 18.3 kms...

report with pictures in a while...i am knackered after 704 kms.. Kinetta is a very wide and hell fast stage up to the first access point (4kms give or take) then it is going to be a survival race with some very rough parts...the tarmac part of the stage has some very spectacular points and probably i will visit them.

expect a report in 2-3 hours from now.

sets for thiva and kinetta are the ones you are looking for.... i will add the direction of the stage later with sexy green arrows using my magic photoshop skills.

numbers on pics names indicate the km they are located from the start...

thiva was dry...kinetta was damp after the first 6 kms and upto the tarmac section which was dry.

no watersplashes.... but they maybe possible if we have heavy rains (which i do not wish for)

and at 12.2 (just 300 meters from access point 4 on the official guide) this place...the red lines indicate where the cars are going to lift sidewys...if they of course have the proper line...tourists might go wider and spoil the fun

ok now on kinetta... a bit narrow for the first 1 km then it widens and becomes very fast up until 3.8km where it tightens again and becomes very very rough at places

0.3 from the start there is a hairpin...the cars will not carry speed through coming at it because before it there are some tight corners.

at 2.1 there is enough space to park your cars if you decide to arrive early before the closure of the stage. there is also a very fast straight section if you are interested.

at 2.5 the cars will have enough speed and they arrive at a dip....they might jump or lift their suspension...it is a risky place because if they do not do anything of the above it is going to be boring...arrive at the place and make you judgement....i might be there as well so you can throw rocks at me if you are not satisfied, or if you are just a mean person.

at 4.6 there is this hairpin...quite steep uphill

at 7.3 the cars come from a very narrow passage (barely a cars lenght) with a 50 cm drop created by the winter streams on the right side and then on this uphill hairpin...

at 8.2 there is a straight section with very soft from the rains terrain...t will create big ruts for sure... if you want to see cars struggling trough them be my guest...

at 9.9 the cars enter a wide road which i think it a winter stream...the ground is very soft...

at 11.1 the cars go on the left into an artificial...wide hairpin...nothing spectacular but you can see the cars for a long time and quite close from a safe spot;

at 11.8 there is a very steep downhill hairpin...i think it is going to be spectacular..i might be there... big rocks to throw at me are present but i think the place is guaranteed fun.

some sexy arrows are not added to the pics...they will be soon enough
places are chosen according to my taste so you might not like them ects ects
the cars trip meter was used to caclulate the distances so add or subtract 100 meters and you will be fine
the above were written after consuming 2.5 glasses of delicious red wine (vintage 96)...the mileage is correct (i triple checked) but there might be some errors in vocabulary and grammar.

At Kefalari be carefull with the car - the mid section quite hard for serial car/tyre, 3 years ago I was happy to come out from the stage without puncture and other damages.

-we had no problems with a suzuki swift sport... at 7.3 where the stream is i had to remove a few rocks but that was it...if you are careful you willnot face any difficulties.

-at 11.8 the first one if i remember correctly is not exactly a hairpin...the second is definately tighter... the section before is not fast...

-you are right there is a camber on the road towards the inertia of the corner.

there are 3 potential watersplashes in the QS...the biggest of them all (still small compared to the ones in argentina) is located a 20 meters from the end of the stage....so it is risky because they might not include it (although it is included in the QS google maps)... found another potential watersplash a bit bigger on ss ziria...but they might avoid it if they follow a different line...

full report from ss kefalari, and ziria in a few hours or late at night....both great stages with many places for everyone...some though require you to arrive early because there is no access near...

The shakedown is a disgrace :( :( really really dissapointed :( :(

Overall the stage is very very nice...some ruogh patches but overall some great watching spots....deciding where to go is going to be tough....



ss ziria

unfortunatelly the first 13 kms of the stage are not accessible...but there are some great spots...the first 10 kms are rough with sharp stones everywhere "i pity the fools" (mr T trademark)...then the stage is very very smooth and fast (limiter in 6th guaranteed if the organisers do not pu some chicanes)

1.9 we have a rough hairpin uphill with nice view.

at 3.9 we have the MOST PICTURESQUE place in the whole rally....a huge valley, you have a view of the cars for around 2 kms maybe more and there are around 150 wild horses on the area...lets hope no accidents.

the rest of the stage up to 10 km mark has some wide hairpins and corners but the terrain is full of stones...nothing spectcular but if you go through it you are going to have a nice collection of broken car parts afterwards.

@Nafpaktos, the place you choose is indeed great but it is worth walking a few kms (2-3) from it because there are some fantastic spots you can choose from...so the decision will be hard.

again the mileage i wrote are not 100% accurate give or take 100 meters...

the stage is not good...very narrow uphill and boring...

at 0.6 from the start we have a 90 degrees corner ...it could be good because before it there is a 600 meter straight... but the corner is narrow so the drivers do not have many options to risk the braking point

at 18.1 (the palce Nafpaktos located)...very nice place very fast and very wide..

after that we have an array of a little bit everything...fast downhill corners, large dips which might lift the cars and in general you have to walk for 2kms to see everything before deciding because every 100 meters there is a nice place....very nice section...it almost makes me to sacrifice thiva to arrive there early and watch just 2 Vauxites stages from different parts

at 20.3 there is a quarry with a fast section where you can see the cars for around 600 meters...not bad...

finally at 21.8 there is this waterhole....if it rains might be fun for a few cars...then the water will wash away i think...if it is very hot around the time of the event it might evaporate.

unfortunatelly the first 13 kms of the stage are not accessible...but there are some great spots...the first 10 kms are rough with sharp stones everywhere "i pity the fools" (mr T trademark)...then the stage is very very smooth and fast (limiter in 6th guaranteed if the organisers do not pu some chicanes)

1.9 we have a rough hairpin uphill with nice view.

according to google maps it is inside the stage definately... it is 400 meters from the end of the stage....you can see the small structure on google maps as well.

the 21.9 was calculated with the cars trip computer so it is off (the reason is that we could not drive in straight line and had to swerve like mad to avoid rocks so for example a 10 meter straight line i had to do 15 meters to avoid rocks)... and that is why i wrote 21.9 while the stage is 21.3.

about arrival time you have to calculate it yourself to be safe and you have to take into account that there might be traffic jams... although i do not think we are going to have big numbers of spectators this year...but all remains to be seen

by the way today it rains heavily all day where i am around 500 kms from the stages...if the rains move towards the stages in the following weeks it is going to be interesting....

In Greece the roads are not that demanding so we do not have any known place were the cars crash... it is mostly due to random mistakes rather than the spot itself.

About the pass it is going to be my first year in which i am going to have photographers accreditation so i do not know what is allowed and what is not yet..

maybe someone with experience could answer that part.

third one is from last years power stage but i can t be 100% sure.Second one i don t know.

You have to go in from the start. I think you have to be there early, as close to the starttime the road was closed for public just after village Gymno. Its a steep road up to the start with some hairpins and people was walking up there quite some time (2 km, 200 m altidude difference). I had a media sticker on the car when i was there and could so drive until the time control and park there.

i do not know how the weather is at the south or near the stages but if it even close to what we get to the north, then pack umbrellas and raincoats... for the last 3-4 days it rains daily for at least 3-4 hours a day and the weather is very cloudy and dark for the most of the day... lets hope things improve.

Weather looks to become nice :-) Some rain might come during QS and SS1 and that is it. It should pretty warm. between +20..+25 for the most of the rally (even during the QS and SS1) and sometimes around +30 degrees (probably on Sunday). Put it is still early to call 100% correctly :-)

Jamie the Waves cafe is just 20 meters away from Casino Loutraki where is the headquarters of rally(As you see the entrance door of Casino at your right hand).It s very easy to find it and very near from Park Service.Thats why i choosed this place to be easy from everybody to find it.

Don't know if this is mentioned already, but Latvala said in an interview for Finnish news agency that his collarbone is supported by a titanium plate attached with 6 screws. He's also wearing some sort of padding between the overalls and HANS in front. He says his hand mobility is back 100%, hand strentgh 90%. He says it can get painful at rougher parts, but nothing couldn't live with. He aims for podium, but does not rule out winning.

Yeah I red and I was thinking that it is maybe a good thing for him. Usually he wants to win the rally in first few stages, now he needs to take a bit different approach:-) So, the injury might do good for him after-all.

recent rains made this place 6.3 qs | Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/51932399@N07/7183047148/in/set-72157629694988298) a PROPER WATERSPLASH (at least 3 times more water than in the photo) !!!! i will be there...it is just 20 meters from the end of the QS..you can access it if you go through the agioi theodoroi special stage...plenty of parking places also just a few meters away from the stop of the ss.
