Really looking forward to these series. WSB in particular is so deep with competitive riders it should really be an absolute belter. Don't think Carlos will have things all his own way this year and I must admit to being disappointed that he's running number 7 and not number 1. After trying for 20 years to win a world title I woulda thought he'd want to show it off.

WSS is interesting. Two Americans including the talented Josh Day must be a first I reckon. Also, you would've got enormous odds on there being more Russians and South Africans in WSS than Australians, Brits and Spanish! And Lukas Pesek, where'd he come from? Seemed to disappear off the face of the planet a couple of years back!

WSB looks a good lineup, even without Nori so far. A little stronger than last year in terms of depth, which was needed. Not sure who the favourites are but I think BMW will be in with more of a shout this time with the change away from their own electronics to one of the specialists.

Lukas Pesek I think went to the Spanish Moto2 series after losing his Moto2 ride with Matteoni (what happened to them this year?) in 2010. Josh Day seems to have a ride in Britain also (Brit Superstock 1000 with CN Racing, a good team), so not sure if he's doing both or will drop off one list. Would imagine the usual suspects up the front, although maybe Roberto Tamburini and Ronan Quarmby will join the full-on contenders (Sheridan Morais too, good little rider).

Lukáš Pešek was doing in 2011 the second half of the IDM Supersport season as a replacement for the Belgian rider Didier van Keymeulen in the Team Suzuki Mayer. Pešek took two podium places with a Suzuki that lacked top speed.

Sykes up top and I'm quietly (ok, not so quietly!) stoked with the pace of the Kwaks this year.

Haslam is to have surgery after x-rays revealed he had fractured his tibia in his crash yesterday. He joins Eugene Laverty in the doubtful column for the first round this weekend with John Hopkins already declared a non-starter. Hopefully they'll have enough riders to fill the grid...
