I think this is a side track to what Paul Coleman claims they are working on (A rally game). As he says on Twitter, he isnīt on the Showdown project, which indicates there is something better coming.

Yes this looks very bad indeed. It's virtually a destruction derby game. This will not have the longest shelf life in the world. I do not understand why Codies or black bean do not get the message- build a rally game the reflects its nature and be loyal to the professional element of the the sports history!!!! I can't see how they can build on Dirt 3 to be honest because the audience for a dedicated rally inspired game is niche outside the euro zone at best.

I remember DiRT was quite nice, but for some reason, it kept showing me BSoD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death)s on some stages, so I could never finish the game, which was a shame. IMHO, DiRT was a nice rallying game -not for hardcore racers, but great for occasional players-. However, the saga just went downwards from there...

WRC Extreme 2 is a seminal rally game. It went platinum so rally game producers should rely on the market, if they make something of true quality consumers will buy it!!!

Tbf this clearly isn't a rally game or aimed at our corner of the market

[small update]

Some news about the Future rally game by Codemasters (not Showdown)

The main thing they will improve from the feedback they gained from Dirt 3 is : More technical stages, netter atmosphere & format ( for example serice after 2 stages and a number of sercice time to repair your car )and improved online vents and competitions

They also mention that the year 2012 wont bring an other Rally game by Codemasters, so we have to wait until 2013 for a new rally game!

This is good news that means that the developers will take their time to develop a proper rally game ( specially because the Chief Game Designer from Codemasters is currently co-driving in the rallysport)

They better let you have full offline rallys, rather than having to do only 1 stage!

Not my thing but Codies are launching it as an Arcade racer and it looks pretty much like an arcade racer. To my mind this is good, they've split DiRT 3 into two parts, the Gymkhana/buggy racing type stuff in one game, the rallying/hillclimb type stuff in another. This means that the rally game that is apparently in development should cater more for those of us that liked the Monte Carlo stages than those that enjoyed the Gymkhana bits :)

I am actually quite interested in this game. Could be fun as rally games can get intense. I just hope Codemasters next rally game does not try to find to many compromises between disciplines. Just focus on Rally, proper European Rallycross and Hillclimb. Gymkhana and derby racing has its place and COdies/Ken Block could do it very well.

The new Head 2 Head mode doesn't look too bad, but the rest of the game does nothing for me.
