Does anyone have a good method for learning the 25 and 75 times tables? 50 and 100 are pretty easy I think, but 25 and 75 are harder. Will I just have to learn them by rote?

It should be pretty obvious as to why I want to specifically learn the 25 and 75 times tables but more generally, suppose that you did have to learn a lot of stuff quickly, what methods do people use?

Assuming your question is serious, I'd use logic. I've never learned by heart.
x*25=x*50/2 (if you already know the 50 because it is pretty easy)

x*75=x*50 + x*50/2

or x*25= x*20 +x*5 (this one is actually easier than the above method)

There was a time when I was having fun with mental calculation of squares of numbers with 3 figures, it was a long time ago though.

It is not obvious Rollo I am afraid. Could you enlighten the less clever people like myself please?

Are you practicing for the numbers game on Countdown or something?

Got it in one... well the Australian version called "Letters and Numbers" but yes, it's the same show.
I also do badly in the Conundrum round as well, but unless you learn a bunch of nine letter words, I don't see me getting that very often.

25 times table is easy enough because it is just half of 50.

75s shouldn't take that long to learn. But if you struggle in the heat of the moment just jot down on your paper 75, 150, 225, 300, 375, 450, 525, 600, 675, 750, 825, 900

You shouldn't need to know it over 12 x 75

x25 is divide by 4 (or by 2 twice) in donkey maths... x100 of course :p

x75 = (100) - x25

x25 = x100 / 4
x25 = x50 / 2

x75 = x25 * 3
x75 = x150 / 2
x75 = x15 * 5

Simple.
