Wow. What a final day. Both championships decided by a point or two, and by nothing more than the width of a wheel in the final BSB race - 0.006 seconds. Incredible. I think over the Supersport season the battle between McConnell and Seeley has been one of the all time epics, up there with the Walker/Hodgson BSB title fight.

McConnell? I meant Wilson of course

Great racing but high attrition rate.

Contracts to Tommy Hill, don't like this Nascar style point system IMHO, Shakey would have been champion in old money. Anyway contracts again to Tommy

Eeee gads. That was a great final weekend! The final margin on the line reflecting just how close a season we have witnessed. The only thing that was perhaps missing was a little bit more sportsmanship from John. He was obviously hurting having lost, but he just came across bitter towards Tommy. The SS riders showed how to do things in that regard.

I've just about managed to climb down off the ceiling after that final race. The best championship decider ever? There should have been three championship trophies awarded this year.

Great stuff wasn't it :)

BSB always manages to put on something special (as does all bike racing really). I'm not sure about the 'Showdown' though.... Tommy wrapped it up without winning any races in the final stages if i'm remembering rightly (Hopper x3, Byrne x2, Brookes & Laverty), kinds of makes a mockery of it.

It was great racing and the third race in BSB coupled with the amazing BSS Brands round earlier this year between Wilson and Seeley must rate as two of the best races in bike racing in 2011. Looking forward to 2012.

Hmmm. Not sure about that. If points were only awarded for first place, then maybe. But as he scored the most points over the course of the season he is the champion and a very deserving one.

Shane Byrne scored the most points this season, not Hill. For me Byrne is the real BSB champion 2011.

Just watched the deciding race again and its still as exciting as it was Sunday!

I really wanted Hopper to win it, but fair play to Tommy he is a deserving champion and to beat a Moto Gp star must make it even sweeter!

Hill said: "I just want to get to Brands Hatch now after what has really been six weeks off. ... That was the approach I had last season and I came away with a first and second place plus the championship lead so who knows what can happen
