Tragedy strikes in Superstock 800 race.

On the first lap of the Superstock 600 race, 18 year old Ben Gautrey #25 fell at the bottom of the Mountain section and was struck by two other riders thereby suffering extensive injuries. Unfortunately, he later passed away.
Heartfelt condolences to his parents, family, friends and team.
A sad, sad day……..R.I.P. son.

Yes - sadly Ben Gautrey lost his life today. The accident happened towards the back of the pack so wasn't caught on camera directly, although the race was stopped immediately so the medical crew could get onto the track.

I wasn't closely familiar with Ben as he was new in the BSB paddock this year and not running near the front yet, although with hindsight I realise I spent some time trying to get a good photo of him coming out of Druids at Oulton Park in May.

Sad to lose a young guy doing what he loved - my thoughts are with my family, friends and the Gearlink Kawasaki team.
