Its a great historic rally and a fantastic entrylist, but there are no Midnight sun in that area....... You must go a lot further north to get midnight sun....

Jepp, that´s a traditional rally which ended up to be Swedish Rally in winters from 1965. Now called Rally Sweden.
In the 50´s and up to 1964 it went from Stockholm to the real midnight sun in northern Sweden back to Stockholm again. Some of the stages this year is the same as back in the years though.

Will Steve Perez in the Stratos be on the startline? I saw he crashed in Ypres, can they get the car ready in time?

What I´ve heard today is that he´s coming. Not so bad damages. Or maybe he has a spare car?

I found a couple of pics from my old books of traditional Midnight Sun Rally.

The pics are too big to paste as attachments so I put the links here.

This year's rally will be a memorial rally in memory of Ove "Påven" Andersson.

Juha Kankkunen, Mikko Hirvonen and Hannu Mikkola will all drive for Toyota Team Historic.
Hirvonen and Kankkuenen will drive Toyota Celicas and Mikkola will drive a replica of a 1975 Toyota Corolla.
Ove's sons will also participate in the regularity class.

Just got home from a day in the rally forests. Great stages (albeit a bit short) and nice weather brought allot of spectators
out into the stages. Tom Damberg in a Volvo 164 won the Historic class, about 14 second ahead of Mikael Oscarsson
in a Ford Escort and with Mats Jonsson , Toyota in 3rd.

Mats Jonsson had a 3,7 second advantage over Oscarsson after the penultimate stage,
the folk race track in Ekeby outside Eskilstuna. However a great performance by Oscarsson in this stage
and a not so good performance by Jonsson, meant that Oscarsson gaines almost 6 seconds
on the last stage and Jonsson found himself in third.

Some of the big names Hirvonen and Kankkunen had pulled out weeks before the rally started and some of the
other expected top names either retired or had to restart (super rally).

Both Thorzelius and Mikkola finished among the last and drivers like Bäcklund, Rådström and Tidemand had to retire.

It was a great and spectacular event. I never thought those old cars can still fly like this trough the forests.

I was out yesterday, spectating on stages 19 and 22, really good stages with lots of curves.
SS19 Striberg, I was at Skofthyttan spectator area, pretty good, a quite longer straight road leading up to a hairpin,
followed a by a series of slight uphill bends.

Then I moved to SS22, Skäggebol, we parked our car at the finish just north of Ölsboda, then walked maybe 600-700m into the stage and
found this great place. It was sort of a very small peninsula in a lake called Stor-Björken a large left hand bend led them to our area which
as 2-3 s-bends after each other. Weather at SS22 was perfect, warm, sunny and a light breeze to prevent from being too warm.

I did some filming at both stages but I have not had a chance to look at it yet.
