When I log in it takes me to the main board and shows up as if I wasn't logged in (if that makes sense). THen I'll click on one of the forums or 'Todays Posts' and the page loads up as if I'm logged in. E.g I have the skin as in red but if I were to go to another webpage now and then come back (without closing IE) it would bring me back to a blue page with all the "if this is your first visit..." stuff and the little login boxes at the top. Then I click something and without having to put in my username etc. I'm logged in.
It's not really a problem, it's just weird and I was wondering why it's happening.
How are you arriving at the forum? What URL do you use?

I'm getting the same deal. I use IE as well. I get here through motorsportforums.com Strange.

Today i was hotdesking at work and decided to visit the forum. I got here using google and the motorsportforums.com address. There was no login box anywhere so i had to go to the alternative layout and the box reappeared! This was using IE but I don't know which version.

Ah, when that happens it's usually because you have compatibility mode either on or off (can't remember which). There should be an icon to the right of the address bar (where the refresh and stop buttons are). Click that and you're good to go

You're not the first to encounter the 'no login box' issue. So it would be good to pin down the problem!

Hi Mark - When I had the problem a while ago with IE7 I eventually noticed that the login boxes on the default style page (& some of the other styles) were off to the right of the banner at the top of the page rather than being overwritten (& right justified) on top of the banner. As my attention was at the top of the screen when trying to log in I hadn't noticed that the page had become too wide for the display as I hadn't seen the horizontal scroll bar that had appeared at the bottom. Once I spotted the scroll bar I could scroll right and see the login boxes alongside the banner. Note also that once logged in the logout & associated boxes were also off to the right of the page, so a "right-scroll" was needed to log out. Since then I have changed to IE8 & no longer have the problem.

Thanks for that. Interesting, it does seem that there are as many different potential layouts as there are browsers, which makes things interesting, and changes almost impossible!
