Hey,
I really want to become a grid girl, I already model and i'm a huge F1 fan so it seems pretty ideal for me!
I've been trying to find out information on how to go about it but theres not much out there.
So i was wondering if anyone knew how to get into it.
Any help is much appreciated!

I think that there is talent agencies that deal with this sort of thing, grid girls and promotions in general. I'd have thought that working Max Power type shows is the staple.

Oh and you need great tits, a nice arse and a good smile...but you probably already know that.

If you didn't post a picture of yourself, then that probably means you're ugly.

Just quit as of right now and save yourself the embarrassment.

In a nutshell: make sure your agent has plenty of contacts in the motorsport world and preferably already does work in that field. Then be prepared for lots of slog in trade shows and promotions. Might also be worth going to smaller race meetings and offering your services for free, I know several people who have "held the pole" for BTCC teams and you'll get a feel for whether you like the work. It's not as glamorous as you might think: you don't really get to mingle with the drivers and you're on your feet a long time in all weathers.

That'd make a great tag line for a modelling agency - not particularly PC mind, but sums up the requirements!

Aye. Remember being at Thruxton for the start of the BTCC season a few years back and, although it was dry and sunny, it was bloody freezing. Some teams let them wear coats but others are basically out there in their smalls and looking bloody uncomfortable. And by the time 5pm on a cold day in April rolls around you really don't just want to be in your pants.

I remember being at the 2003 German GP when we were having a heatwave across Europe. The gridgirl's started to collapse from the heat about an hour before the race started. After the third or fourth one collapsed they took them all in and gave them all drinks before providing them all with parasol's so they could stand on the grid when the drivers and their cars actually got out there. We were rather glad we'd paid extra for a covered grandstand at that GP.

Know people in the business is the best starting point. Barring that, find the contact details of your near nearest racetrack and ask about their next major events, should do the trick.

Avoiding forums and seeking advice from apparent male chauvinists would be a start.. lol :p

The average grid girl fan is a drooling sexist pig  . She's having a taste of how it's going to be like.

typical of messenger buzz post.. ;)

I think the most proper advice was from Dave, you must join agencies which have massive contact with those organize such race events. Can be anything like slalom contest, drifting, or any local race championships to start off. Except to offer your service for free unless if you want to do it, I think you will need your service get paid..

How's this for timely.

On an afternoon game show here in Australia (Hot Seat), one of today's contestants said his job was hiring Grid Girls for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. When asked how he chose the Grid Girls he said that he had applicants on his books. His wife was in the audience and confirmed his unbelievable good fortune. :)

So I guess you might be able to dig out this afternoons (Wednesday 8th June) show from Hot Seat Show (http://channelnine.ninemsn.com.au/hotseat) and watch it to get some clues.

Unfortunately/enjoy being complimented (delete as appropiate!) - that's part and parcel of being a grid girl.

Well pretty good idea as recession is going on …get a permanent job till age of 45 years, its too easy if you wanna be a grid girl then search the agencies online and ask any pit girl (http://www.pit-girls.net/) or grid girl you know around there……manually you can find out agency in new York almost everywhere….

The thread got me thinking: who are the F1 grid girls working for? The circuits? FOM? Allsport? Some sponsor? I think they work for the promoter, so if you're based in Britain, you might want to contact the Silverstone Circuit or the BRDC.

A lack of imagination, self esteem or education would be a good start, and a desire to be dribbled over by some of the most charmless, witless and opinionated men in the world would be a bonus, if you've got that then you're laughing.

I would say ,be prepared to do lots of "Favours" would help you attain the position, and I don't think Mifune is far off the Mark,in what he says

You 2 are clueless.

My youngest daughter got her degree in Marketing from UNLV.

That helped her a lot in her successful modeling career within the automotive industry.

She laughs all the way to the bank at people that think the way you guys do.
