View Full Version : Bobcat - Ford shill?

I know someone's going to have kittens at me making accusations but I very much suspect our friend Bobcat of being an M-Sport employee who is using this forum to effectively advertise M-Sport which surely must be against the rules of the forum. I don't mind if someone advertises on the forum and they pay for it and they're upfront about it, but this guy posts a suspicious amount of news stories about M-Sport and little else.

Take a look through his posts and you'll see what I mean!

Here is his first post on the forum

His 2nd one

sarally, I wish you luck for a successful comeback with the Ford Fiesta.

his 3rd one

I mean just check out the first few pages of his posts! He pretty much regurgitates press release stuff and nothing else other than to have a dig at Citroen. He's been questioned a number of times as to whether he's an M-Sport employee and he never responds at all, if he were some enthusiastic Ford supporter I'd have expected some sort of defensive behaviour.

There's stuff which is obviously a shameless PR post

To celebrate Ford's 75th win in rally this weekend, here is a great new wallpaper from the victory in New Zealand! http://www.flickr.com/photos/fordracinginsidetheoval/4598824064/sizes/o/

Now I've NEVER seen anyone just join a forum and start posting links like that and nothing else. Usually people say hi first, try to get involved in a bit of discussion and so on. When they're discussing rallying they usually get involved in a bit of banter and so on. It's hard NOT to get into things on the WRC and have a bit of banter with people but this guy somehow manages unless of course it's Ford related!

I don't have any issues with someone from a team posting on the forums, it's fantastic if they bring something to the forum. There's a guy from Prodrive (bubbaontour) who occasionally posts and his level of technical knowledge is fantastic, but he's always been upfront with the fact that he's a Prodrive employee.

At the very least can someone look into where he is posting from and if it is suspected that he is a Ford shill, then can it at least be made public or can he be banned.

;)

Luckily I don't pay much attention to the WRC forum (that way I don't miss it when I have to avoid it for the 3 days of a rally before I can see any footage :D ), however those posts certainly seem to have a bit of bias to them. However I can't see what there is to gain from it :S

I can understand the whole tinfoil hat thing ;) But you take my point that it's strange that a guy would join up on a forum and basically just post on one thing and one thing only that. There was even a point in the preseason where all he seemed to be doing was posting liveries of Fiesta's...... In all my 10 years on the forum I've never seen someone do that.

Firstly I would think that Mark would decide if it's advertisting, and be his decision regardless. The opinions of all the rest of use really shouldn't matter.

As for the second comment I don't think it should matter where he is posting from, and hope that the powers that be would not make public any such information. Even if he was posting from a Ford based PC, if it's not considered advertising it shouldn't matter.

That's exactly what I was saying, I didn't say "can some random forum person look into this and make a judgement as to whether he's just a guy posting links or whether he appears to be an M-Sport employee and by magic, this non moderator can ban him"

I'll look into it but isn't something to discuss in public!
