The BTCC has them this year, the V8 Supercars uses them, the WRC uses them... do people like the idea?
It gives advertisers a greater space to put their billboards on, but does it add or take away from the asthetics of the series?
Personally I like NASCARs idea of big massive numbers on the door because notonly does it make it easy to see who is who, but it also gives a sense of identity to the drivers themselves.
I think of Richard Petty's 43, Peter Brock's 05, Dale Earnhardt's 3 and even Triple Eight's 888 as a few examples.
Personally I think that putting the numbers in the window looks stupid and takes away the sense of identity of the cars.

I like it, and more space for the sponsers is always good!

Perhaps they should carry their numbers like this:

I don't mind them, but then I never particularly liked the italicised numbers the BTCC used. I've said before that my favourites were the blocky numerals used by the series in 1993, but that seemed to be a one-off. At least they're still visible...
Still, if we want really big numbers in the windows, how about taking a leaf out of the Brazilians' book:

How can they see with massive numbers covering the windscreen?

I think i prefered it before but thats because it was what i was used to. If i really give it some thought i would say i dont care either way and thats what i voted for.

Race cars have numbers on the doors, full stop.
The likes of the STCC, BTCC and V8Supercars now just look like billboards, and the car numbers mean very little hidden away in the back window.

The stuff the sticker numbers are made of means they are only visible to the outside, it allows the drivers to see-through them

I staunchly disagree with you. In fact, some teams have even improved the look of their race cars.
However if you want to see something akin to a billboard on a race car - look no further: http://www.autosport.com/gallery/photo.php/id/13271826

So long as the BTCC never go back to the stupid font which looked like italic Comic Sans I don't care where the numbers go.
