I'm back from deep woods of Pindula. Pity of the big crash of Valda. As far as I know he has a plaster on right hand and slight injury of the other hand. Zdeněk is in hospital for observation because of pain in back.

RS: Yes, Kresta looks very careful, no attack. Both his rivals are out and if he finishes, he is champion so why to through it all out of the window? I guess we will have poor entry list for last round in Příbram...

From today, first Pindula.The best for me definitely crazy driving of PG, than Wilks. In second run it was Basso doing some incredible sliding on a narrow road. Proton guys are pushing like crazy... Also I very much liked Breen and Mikklesen.

The local star Jan Kopecky lead after day 2
Jan Kopecky the local star is the leader after the first day of IRC Rally Czech 2011.
The Czech is 19.7 seconds ahead the second Juho Hanninen and Freddy Loix with the same time. The entire top three with Skoda Fabia S2000. The forth place is for Bryan Bouffier at +23.4 (Peugeot 207 S2000), fifth is Terry Neuville at +1:15.3, sixth Andreas Mikkelsen at +2:09.5. The top 4 drivers will challenge for the winner tomorrow in the rest six stages.
The biggest losers today were Andreas Mikkelsen and Guy Wilks who delay too much after punctures.
The first Ford Fiesta after Day 2 of Rally Czech is at eight position with a driver Craig Breen at +2:23.1. The first Proton Satria Neo S2000 is at tenth position (P. Andersson at +2:50.2.

I'm back. Firstly I was in Pindula close to finish. Flatout from big hill to the finish line with little jump. Amazing drive by TOP 8. After Valda crash I decided to go to Semetin, I was near Right corner from asphalt to gravel. Like every year Barum is beautiful. I'm sad that i can't go tomorrow to Zlin. At the end of everything good and speedy recovery for Valda and for his co-driver!!

So sad about the Peugeots. Since Quensel took over the sporting side, Peugeot results in IRC have gone worse and worse. Seems that all the funds are directed to Citroen even if they are winning with huge margins.

Since Quensel took over the sporting side, Peugeot results in IRC have gone worse and worse. Seems that all the funds are directed to Citroen even if they are winning with huge margins.
Bouffier is a Peugeot Sport France driver and Neuville is a Peugeot Belux driver.
The implication of Peugeot in IRC is less important than the implication of Citroën in WRC so Peugeot's result doesn't really matter for Quesnel.
I don't think that Peugeot will improve the 207 again...

Quensel is still responsible for all their sporting activities including 24 h races, IRC, WRC, seems just he does care about IRC only when its round takes place in Monte. There has been many rumors about new parts and improved components.. but only thing we can see is engine failures, DSQ-s and crashed cars due to their lack of development and over driving pilots. My point was that it would be reasonable to spend small % of their WRC program to their 207 programs instead of making their DS3 WRC 6 times faster than Fiesta. At the end of day I will be bored while watchin IRC where only Skoda is able to win and it is boring to watch WRC when Sebs finish even before Fords have left from the final service.

Some really nice footage on today's Eurosport programme, especially the helicopter footage where you can really see the suspension doing it's thing!

I also love Hanninen's beautiful drifting driving style on asphalt - attractive and effective.

...back at work... that's the only bad thing now :D

Had a great day yesterday with four stages (only top 30 crews though). On Maják we took twice an extremely fast crest some 5 km before finish and like three years a go when it was last time run in this direction, it was amazing (I saw also Martin Prokop watching there). Especially Hänninen and Basso were crazy there with cars sliding among trees in maybe 150 km/h...

On Halenkovice once we took a fast cutting corner in a downhill section after exit from the wood some 6 km before finish. Here it was easy to see how top crews had no problems with the bump inside but Protons and Gr.N cars were kicked in the air (especially Orsák with inner wheels high in the air). For second run we took two difficult corners only 2 km from finish and it was really thrilling when Your stop watch says it will be something like zero difference at finish!

Altogether I liked the rally a lot, it was probably easier than last year with almost all the time dry weather (except Sunday morning) and shorter Pindula. I also liked much less anti-cutting poles this year but I'm not sure if removing al chicanes was a good step because especially connecting parts of Maják are way too fast for modern cars...

Barum Czech Rally Zlín, thank you for the tan! When leaving shakedown on Friday midday, temperature was +37c. That's a bit too overwhelming :-)

Second time in this rally and we had a relaxed visit. Got to Zlín just in time for scrutineering, then Friday shakedown and city stage at bus station (got to the bus station 4,5 hrs before any driving happened there, 6 hrs before 1st BCRZ car, absurdly crazy but so worth it!), Saturday Biskupice 1, Semetin 1 and Trojak 2, Sunday Majak 1 & 2 (different places) and podium. Lots of crazy Czech fans and other fans too, great atmosphere and of course lots of spectacular driving. Seeing now all the pictures and action from the rally there obviously would've been some better (and faster) places to spectate as always, but maybe next year. But finally beeing at Trojak in the place with fast right-hander and breaking in to the 90 degree juction down to the smaller road (Votava's huuuuge and lucky slide), that's iconic.

During the rally all information on the results were provided by the SMS service, which worked better this year, so that doesn't tell all. But judging on the times and what I saw on the stages, the biggest surprises must've been Wilks and Mikkelsen. I was expecting something from Mikkelsen, but his scratch times on Sunday were clear indication of his current form. For Wilks I wasn't expecting anything, but until he hit troubles he was clearly one of the fastest drivers. And very unlucky event for Peugeot altogether. Other two drivers from the lower field worth mentioning are the Irish duo, Breen and Barrable. Breen was more consistent, but then again in placing which required guts - say going top gear flat out into a blind crest corner - Barrable proved himself. Very nice result for Gardemeister too, and I don't mean the 6th place but the pace for Barum first timer. He always got the cheers everywhere he passed. Biggest dissappointment must've been the lack of MMCR battle with Valda crashing out early, Kresta on a cruise mode and Pech not leaving an impression of any kind. Maybe next year. Altogether great event!

In my opinion , the WRC would ruin this rally . Barum doesn't need WRC , WRC needs Barum and that's a great position to be in .

Barum doesn't have neither resources, nor enough stages, enough hotels, good traveling connection etc. for being a WRC event. Also I think that FIA guys wouldn't like the average speeds a lot, when we have often 115-120 km/h with only S2000 cars...

I like it a lot... Excellent angle, road visible 100% and also car is in the picture (=the bonnet) so one can see/perceive car living and moving.

Veeeeery nice onboards! :) Just watched Juho on Troják 2, crazy stuff, downhill on the limiter in very narrow section... Otherwise very enjoyable stuff! Will continue tomorrow. ;)

In the post-event scrutineering technicians found non-homologated ECU in Neuville's car. However this time for some strange reason they didn't disqualify the crew (maybe because Peugeot is so down in the championship?). Peugeot Sport (not Kronos Racing) was only penalized by 12500 Euro.

I'm sorry, I'm already two years out of RBR world, so I don't know what are current relations between Czech and French plugin. I even don't know what You mean by French one. If it is something what I remember under name RSRBR, than I guess not because if I remember these guys once took a stage of Václav Šourek (Stryckovy) and heavily modified it without his permission and never bothered even to reply email.
