Very tight at the top in all classes......would love to have seen the S/Stk 600 race. 15 year old Aussie Metcher almost made it onto the top step.

Looking at the times for the superstock 600 race, you wouldn't fit the proverbial struck match between them (thank you HG Nelson).

Looking like Checa's to lose, again. Smrz is very fast and hopefully due to breakthrough for his first win. Throw a blanket over the rest of the top 12. Chris Vermeulen looked much more competitive, only 1.5 seconds off the pace is a significant improvement - race fitness is a different story however.
Luca Scassa looks like the surprise packet of the year. Sam Lowes kinda the same but being the reigning British champ, it was expected he would be fast, Scassa not so much. One thing is certain, the Ten Kate domination is well and truly over.

Prophetic words NM, Chris retired after 8 laps with leg cramps, and didn't start race 2. Reckons he will be good for Monza though.

Gee mate, I think these riders might prefer you keep your pre-race thoughts to yourself, you're not doing them any favours! :D

Heh, yeah, I talked up Smrz too and he crashed as well...sorry fellas! :D Monza is not so physical with long straights so will hopefully be the complete return for Chris the V.

It was an interesting but not overly exciting round of racing. Checa continues on his merry way, Rea returned to form at a happy hunting ground but needs to continue, Laverty was solid if unspectacular and most of the rest of the field was inconsistent. Biaggi kinda put his aberration at Donington behind him with excellent 2-2 results but he continues to 'make friends' with more criticism about blocking during qualifying coming from Leon Haslam this time, as well as from within the Alitalia Aprilia pit garage:

Now you must say that I was right with the hot and sunny temperatures and no snow as you said...

OK fair enough Wim :D Had a very good day indeed, surprised me how much people do still have feelings 'against' Max Biaggi btw, when I heard the loudness on Checa's pass.... Was je er zelf ook trouwens?

Last year I've red an article of Francis Batta, claiming that the Aprilia is some sort of a 'prototype' bike. Well, if you've seen Max Biaggi on Assen's back straight, sure you'd say the same :S

I am not a fan of Biaggi too. Checa isn't blocking other riders in qualifying and he is a much more friendly person in my opinion. Checa isn't crying when he can't win, when Biaggi is known for this. I agree that his bike is clearly the fastest, you can also see this at the top speeds. Unfortunately his bike never seems to have a mechanical problem and both Camier and Haga had mechanical problems on the race day.
