Hello guys! I'm one of the fun rallying in the world, i'm leaving in Crimea near the Yalta! Is there many peoples will go to Yalta cheer for their team? :)

wwbroe

Thierry Neuville will take part in Yalta Rally, alltough it was not mentioned in his initial program. Maybe they will drop Barum Rally instead, but that will depend on result in Oucraine. I think it is smart move in championship as not all top drivers will be present in Yalta. For example Hanninen and Loix will not take part, so maybe it could be easier to take some points. We will see what it brings.

Aquagen

Mirek, as you can see most of the crews will take part in ERC and Ukrainian championship cause it is biggest rally in UA. But 10+1 (Tempestini) fast S2000 drivers is a record for rallying event in our country. And very interesting is a Megane R4 :)

P.S. I think that Trutnyev will be fastest in FWD

Funny to see this before anything about Corsica!

Is Karl Kruuda planning more IRC events or is this a one-off?

Surprised to see only one car for Skoda Motorsport, surely it wouldn't cost so much more to run an extra car with the team already there. Maybe they don't need it with some strong private entries there for them.

Proton's lineup for Yalta should again be Basso-Andersson I believe?

I heard Salyuk broke his collarbone recently. That may be problem to get ready for Yalta...

I guess we'll see at least one more S2000 car on the list - Oleksiy Tamrazov with his Fiesta.

Kruuda planned to do as many events as possible in 2011. So, those IRC rallies that do not coincide with WRC are most probably in his program. This rally is probably to learn tarmac, remember, he has never driven a rally on tarmac with 4WD car. Anyway, he has done only 2.5 rallies with 4wd car so far anyway.

Btw "farming duties" as a excuse is that really true??? I can't almost believe that..

Well, it is spring time and Hänninen's family does have a farm. His profession besides rally driver is agronomist. Plus tractor manufacturer Valtra is one of his main sponsors so of course he likes to drop "driving a tractor for a while" for the press. http://www.valtra.fi/news/2017.asp

Saliuk Jr has broken clavicle, so medics restricted him to drive. And it is pity.

I hope he will find his pace on PWRC very soon.

On driving terms I agree that Patrik is not on the same level as Basso on asphalt but we have to remember that Basso is in the Proton. It will be interesting to see what Giandomenico can do here on a rally that is fresh to everyone and now that he also has a little more experience in the car.

For sure they have improved a lot, they had a lot of new evolutions and also new engine. The longest stage of the rally (nearly 29 kms) is now live. Let's see if the flat tyres problem persists in this stage as well. Let's hope it doesn't strike the top-runners.

How are they running stages if cars are overtaking 0, let alone 00? In my limited experience we don't start a stage until 0 reaches the finish and reports all clear.

Mirek
3rd June 2011, 16:06
That's not possible on 30 km long stage because zero would have to start at least 30 minutes before first car and since that it would be useless for keeping spectators alarmed that first competition cars are coming. Usually there is 5-15 minutes gap before first competitor starts depending on the stage length. But of course if competitor catch zero on stage it's bad but sometimes strange things happen like a crash of Vatanen in zero car last time in Corsica.

KKS

Mirek, can you explain order and time of running safety cars and zero cars?

I don't know all the rules from my head but all other safety cars (director of the course, FIA safety officials etc.), gravel crews (if they are there) runs before zero cars. Than zero cars starts in order from 000 to 0 which is last before first competition car (sometimes there is more zeros like 06, 05, 0000, 000, 00, 0).

In Ypres it's per 5 minutes so 000 starts like 15 minutes before 1st competive car. And yes they're allowed to stop at the stage when they see fans in dangerous zones and warn them to not stand there mostly they direct that also to the Security Responsible of that stage.

Juha_Koo, why they didn't have his youtube uploader like wrc have? Or they did?

As far as I know, they don't upload anything to anywhere. It's a shame, because IRC provides excellent S2000 tarmac action. :) Maybe they would if someone would make that proposition to the media guys.

Also my honest opinion about WRCs Youtube onboards is that they tend to differ a bit too much. From some events they upload lots of great onboards and then again from others just few and they can be Block's onboards etc. More consistency would be good.

darkstar
