Yeah, great news, and maybe a sign of things to come. Thursday night stage in Clocaenog would be awesome. I just hope that the sponsorship of the Welsh Assembly is coming to a close, and maybe the host town will go to, say, Chester. There is an awful lot of road mileage this year - all because of the need for top quality hotels, and only Cardiff in Wales has them.

It would, and was back in the day - racecourse as the base, lots of top hotels, and North/ Mid Wales stages within easy reach.
But, anyway, it's a good route, far better than I was expecting - and the return of Dyfnant, Dyfi and Gartheiniog - for the first time in 10-15 years.

I remember parking in the racecourse about 5 years ago and didn't realise the significance :)

Chester is the ideal size for a RallyGB host town - I feel it gets lost in Cardiff, and you're not always aware the event is happening.

agree there andy ive been over a couple of times and never stayed in cardiff but when you hit the town you would never thing a huge sporting event like rallygb was on.Rally ireland ran out of sligo its not a major sized town but all round the reigion of Sligo you knew the WRC was in town,
will be nice to head over this year and spectate on new stages plus stages in north Wales very handy for us getting off the ferry

Remind me. Is Chester in England or Wales? I guess that's why it won't be used!!!!!

That's the point I was making, Chester would be a great host town. However, as the Welsh Assembly are still the sponsors, it has to be a Welsh host town/ city - and the high road mileage because of the lack of suitable hotels, etc in North Wales.

It's at this point I should mention that places on our loungeroom floor are up for grabs for £100 a night. Showering and going to the toilet it extra :D

Cant wait for this - Rally GB back in North Wales at last and starting on my birthday (Nov 10) :)
Great news for us people in the North of England... Conwy is so much closer than Cardiff.
It will be like a 'mini-RAC' with all that road mileage !

In all honesty when the RAC moved to the racecourse you didn't really know it was in Chester, it's only when it was based in the Northgate arena with start/finish in the main street under the clock tower that you got a real sense of the 'show in town'.....the rows that Chester has, used to be packed out and it really was a very special time...

The 'Fourways/Halfway' on Sunday stage should be interesting! Hopefully they still use the Route 60 section of Halfway.
