I dont know if any of the fans here have heard but after an impressive debut at Brands Hatch Tony Gilham is now having a bit for a struggle to make the grid for the remaining races due to a sponsor pulling the pin.

As fans it would be great if we could get behind him and one of the best ways is to join his fan club for only 20 pounds at the following link.

The joining fee is not much but im sure every penny will go a long way towards helping him race.

And we all want to see that Flash pink and green Vectra on the grid all year.

I'm really tiring of these "fan funded" schemes. We buy tickets to go to the races, watch them on TV providing advertising exposure. Like YourRacingCar and other similar schemes, it seems to sucker fans into paying to help much richer amateur/semi-professional racing drivers. No offense to Tony (or Shaun at YRC even), I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay £20-30 just to have a little patch on the car which no-one else will ever see! I just don't understand it.

I am a huge fan of the BTCC and yet I have not, and likely will not, pay this sort of money to a race team or driver - irrespective of it affecting their chances of being on the grid. Like Alfa Fan has said, the amount of money I put in already is huge (especially considering my current position as a student again) and I really don't fancy paying for one of these drivers to enjoy their hobby 10 times a year.

I've got far less money than him and am competing in the Torbay MC speed championship this year (limited programme though) ;) Anyone willing to give me even £5 I'll print off a photo of them, although as it's a double driven car I'll probably just have to stick the photos to my arse rather than the car :p : However I will endeavour to enter negotiations with the team manager to capture space on the car if 'substantial' sums (over a tenner) are offered....although there may be competition with the following key sponsors:
