Calling all FiA GT1 World Championship fans the qualifying race at the Abu Dhabi Yas Marina circuit forged a stunning result for British team JR Motorsport and their #22 car of Brit Peter Dunbreck and former Porsche Carrera Cup GB racer Richard Westbrook.

As ever theirs a Qualifying Race and a Championship Race but with the Qualifying Race points system now going 8-6-4-3-2-1 from 1st to 6th and 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 from 1st to 10th. But one major change is ballast. For winning the first race you will have 10kg added and the runner up will have 5kg added but 5kg will be taken off for 9th and 10th and below all teams will have 10kg deducted. And 30kg and not 40kg will be added to the winner of the Championship Race.

A stunning 2nd place for Brits Peter Dumbreck and Richard Westbrook who were just ahead of team-mates in the other JR Motorsports Nissan GT-R of Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr. Marc VDS Racing drivers Maxime Martin and Frederic Makowiecki taking the winner in the Ford GT. In 4th was ex-F1 drivers Ricardo Zonta and Enrico Bernoldi in their Sumo GT Nissan GT-R. The first Aston Martin car, the #3 Hexis AMR Aston of Clivio Piccione and Stef Dussledorp was 5th and 6th went to Marc Basseng and Marcus Winklehock in the 38# All-Inkl.com Munich Motorsport Murcielago.

Two cars were penalised 5 grid spots. Dominick Schwagger and Nicky Pastorelli #37 All-Inkl Munich Motorsports Lambo ignored a marshall flag asking to pit asfter ilegally starting with an external battery and the #40 Marc VDR Ford GT of Bas Leinders and Marc Hennerici changed an engine during qualifying.

Looks set to be an exciting season. Albeit with a few withdrawls from last year.
