Werner did a very good job. The R10 is at least one second faster than last year at Sebring considering Werner thinks he could have been even a little bit faster without the dirt somewhere on the track.

An Audi in doubt after night crash.
Luckily Capello is ok.

wow, hopefully Audi can fix the car. but the Courages have been outrunning the Lola's, so there is some hope from the Courage group.

one of the Ferraris crashed in Qualies, but they said that it will be fixed.

but what happened to the intersport Creation, was that a engine problem, or an accident

I see Maassan had the LMP2 class pole, but turned his lights off somewhere on the track on the in-lap and had his lap wiped.

From Planet Le Mans:

The LMP1/LMP2 qualifying session was delayed within its first 5 minutes when Jon Field’s Intersport Racing Creation Judd LMP1 car crashed hard into a tire wall in Turn17. He was not hurt.

Intersport is really taking quite some blows lately... Hasn't they crashed in all of the last three ALMS events?

Do you know you crashed the Intersport car at Laguna (Friday) last year?

Better than two...at least the Aston isn't a slow machine.

That was my first sebring that i've missed in 25 years....Let's get rid of P1 and GT1 and just have LM2 and GT2 go at it. It would make a much more exciting race. The race it self wasn't all that exciting except for the last couple hours. Puegot made a mistake by not showing up.

I managed to stay up till the end, lucky that the US had already gone to summertime. What a great race in GT2 and also P2

what a race in the GT2, the class of the year in ALMS this season, it was fantastic watching Motors TV in the late sturday night, with an epic battle between Ferrari and Porsche, shame that in LMP-1 Audi is lonly, even the Intersport Creation/Judd is slower than the LMP-2 from Porsche and Acura !

i am waiting the next event in St petersburg !

harvick#1
20th March 2007, 16:54
The intersport was slower because it was on P2 tires on a P1 chassis/engine

Subaru WRX
20th March 2007, 17:00
maybe true, but the fact is only Porsche and Acuras could challenge the Champion Audi for the overall win in the ALMS, for sure not the Field's team

harvick#1
20th March 2007, 17:06
Porsche was the only one that had Audis Speed, Acura won on reliability. Porsche was only about 2 tenths off Audis fastest lap, while the Acuras were a second off.

but the Courages were faster than the Lola's, so thats good to know that the courages appear to up to par now

Subaru WRX

speaking about Acura, its strange how the Courage LC75 is quick now, in the winter tests the Lola/Fernandez was much quicker tha the other 2 teams of AGR and Highcroft !!

Wasn't the fastest race lap actually done by a Porsche? There was some mess with timings in mid-race and all pitstops and fastest laps were reset so maybe Audi did it early in the race but I didn't notice.

Subaru WRX

fastest lap in the race by a Porsche !!!! are you sure ??

QuarterMoon
20th March 2007, 18:21
The fastest laptime in the race was 1:46.634, set by Car #1 Audi, followed closely by the second fastest laptime of 1:46.638, set by Car #7 Porsche.

any way its amazing how the LMP2 class is getting so close to the more powerfull LMP1 cars, in LMS there is no doubt that these small prototype will be very slow as the ACO is imposing a 5% restriction to prevent them from overall victories !!!

In absolute agreement with you.
Just a small correction: the Porsche was only 2 thousands of a second slower than Audi's best lap.

I'm afraid many of them will be even slower than the fastest GT1s...

Acura have dropped the Courage name and made a lot of changes to the car but the Lola hasn't changed at all... I wonder how Fernandez feel about that?

.....and therefore protecting a certain French manufacturer from possible humiliation.

This is what this 5% reduction is all about!

It's just being cloaked under a series of subterfuges to mislead the racing fans.

Its still a Courage, Acura made a few tweeks on the exterior, but it still is a Courage

The Acura Courages got a heavy re-working to the aerodynamics. I read somewhere that the Andretti-Green and Highcoft drivers could feel an immediate improvment in the car on its first run with the new kit, something that isnt available to other Courage teams. A bit like what Pescarol did a few years ago to the Courage C60, which eventually became known as the Pescarolo C60. Fernandez is running the brand new 07 eaero kit from Lola so he's not completely short of development, its just not manufacturer backed.

I read in Autosport last week that it was already decide that Andretti-Green would concentrate on chassis development (Honda do want to build their own car so might as well start out developing a car that has not reached its full potential) whilst Fernandez concentrates on engine development. Dont know were Highcroft come into this though.

Well done Acura too

First session times from the LMS test at Paul Ricard seem to suggest it hasn't slowed them down that much- fastest LMP2s (RML, works Radical and ASM Lola) are about 3-4 seconds off the two fastest P1s (Peugeot and Pescarolo), but comfortably up on the GT1s

fastest- LMP1- Peugeot 1m44.382
LMP2- RML 1m47.670
GT1- ORECA Saleen 1m55.820
