Finnskog rally is one stage from finished, Østberg is leading by 2 min, and will win.

Brynildsen had the Skoda engine fail him, and Grøndal had intercom issues on 1 and tech issues on 2.

Great result for young Marius Aasen too - 3rd is his best ever finish I believe?

Sulland

Yes, and he is a young gun coming along. First class win in 4 wd i think, and 3rd total is not bad.

The silly season and build up for 2012 is underway in Norway:

Mads Østberg/ Adapta has bought a Fiesta RRC to use in Norway and German Asphalt series for 2012.
Young talented Marius Aasen has bought Mads´ old Fiesta S2000, and will use that for Norwegian series, and selected SWRC rounds in 2012. He has gotten a new Co-driver as well, Veronica Engan (Mads´ Girlfriend) will guide him in 2012.

Good question, but we are getting a few R2s in 2012, 2x Fabia, 2x Fiesta and 1x Twingo.

I think that the fact that we drive either on snow or gravel, very litle on asfalt does that 4wd seems to be preferred, or an old rwd car in the national classes seems to be what people want to enjoy themselves in.

Well did they?? maybe i'm getting old, I somewhat remember they said the tires should fit the 15" gravel rims...

But if you look at every year I don't think you will find stagetimes as fast than in 2010 with the wider "slower" tires

Well did they?? maybe i'm getting old, I somewhat remember they said the tires should fit the 15" gravel rims...

But if you look at every year I don't think you will find stagetimes as fast than in 2010 with the wider "slower" tires

yes the 15'' rims/tyres were for cost cutting, but the wider not.
2010 fast times were on Pirellis, now with Michelins

See what Jari said about wider tyres at 2011 Sweden...

http://www.motorstv.com/sites/default/files/livecoverage/images/ford.gifJari-Matti LAtvala on WRC Radio. "It was a difficult morning. We had the wide tyre and they can't go through the snow and you end up driving on top of the snow, which makes it very slippery.

Well that only proves JML agree with me :) see my previos post.
Using an 7" wide 15" gravel rim is why they are wider, not because FIA told Pirelli or Michelin to make them wider..

But let us just stop it there and bring on Sweden :)

i saw your previous post, and while Jari said that wider tyres can t find grip on ice,you said that they are faster because 2010 times were better. You can t compare so much differen t things, different make tyres(michelin vs pirelli)different dimensions tyres, different cars(1,6 vs 2,0) and 1 year different snow covered road, while in the same day,in the same road there is so much difference from first pass,to second pass for the same stage.

Fia knew that a wider tyre is slower, don t you think? ;) or you think that fia didn t know that you can t produce a 145 section width tyre in a 7'' rim?

I think the narrow tire is better when there is an soft top (snow) over the ice.

You are giving FIA too much credit ;)

I am starting to wonder if you has seen the "wrc" tires, yes the "footprint" is wider but not in a long way as wide as an normal (gravel) 205/15
studs are the same as before and the pattern is more open. I would say that a car standing still has as much rubber and studs at the ground
as before, but yes, wider if you get what I mean.

What impressed the most was.

- speed on gravel for the Fiesta R1
- many nice old quick Volvos and M3s.

In N3 Bieltvedt and Grøndal

Btw, duting this season, Larsen looks faster than FFST winner Røkland with same car.

Its really good speed among the N3 guys, really impressing speed! They beat N4's, s2000 and old wrc's, difference in drivers of course, but still. Really good fight between bieltvedt and grøndal to ss4, there grøndal has an puncture and a small of, and lost his powerstearing. So bieltvedt won. Both these guys could win pwrc if they had the money to do it proper.

Onboard of Lappi-Ferm from Numedals Rally SS2. Easy to understand how they lost few seconds there for Subarus, Skoda hitting a maximum of around 170 km/h at the fast straights. I'm not an expert on driving styles, but isn't Lappi's style rather calm, stripped down, not overdoing it. At least the crew is relaxed; midstage Ferm says "that went well", Lappi replies "it went as it was meant to".

Sure is try and frustøl in fiesta R5's, but atleast brynhildsen is in an R5 to ( not Ford), grøndal and bieltvedt, and some others, is also discusing R5's.
Grøndal is interesting, as an Subaru carshop owner (his family owns bilbutikken) he have to find something different than a Subaru. If not an R4, but not to many of those, and is they good enought?

This particular rally counts only for WRC champiomcship, so you must obey all wrc regulations including tires. If the event counts also for national championchip and your entry is only for the national event you can use tires allowed by the national regulations but of course you will not appear in the WRC final classification.

Someone know what car used Brynldsen on Aurskog?

Its PX60AWP, chassis nr.15
Started as a WRC car in Sweden 2012(Solowow) and Mexico 2012(Block). After that used as a RRC in several Middle east rallies.

JWRC is only for DS3 R3T Max ; to buy Fiesta R2T only for this DMack Cup is waste of money...

I dont find stage times on ewrc.why mads used an r5?he will not drive r5 on rally sweden,i suppose just to get the felling,no other reason.last year he competed again to a winter rally with his wrc and he used wrc tyres (so he lost to pontus cause he used national rally tyres)and i could understand that test as pre-sweden test, but this year's test is a bit strange.if he used same tyres with anders and had no problems with the car i think mads should go for deer hunting and leave rallying(ok i exaggerate a bit).remember what kris did with r5 on rally condroz.

Because that R5 is from Adapta Motorsport, they don't have a DS3 WRC and this entry is fully on him. Citroën didn't support him on this rally I guess.

An Grondal was just 2 cars after...

Sweeping meaning here that cars 1-50 were mostly 2WD cars (and most of them RWD!) so its completely different lines when arriving to the stages with 4WD R5... Mads was 49th car on the road (check http://racemode.no/startliste.php?r=rhad15 )

But still, the result is very surprising for me also!

Mads has good pace today. 31 secs ahead of Eyvind after two stages...

skarderud
8th February 2015, 11:26
Mads had the new ds3wrc and wide 15" tyres, eyvind in a rrc with the narrow 16" tyres. The first two stages was perfect ice and smooth, so i actually think the wider tyres didnt was a handicap. Eyvind beat mads on the rerun, then it was loose outside the tracks.
Both was really happy and ready to do theire best in sweden. Both can win theire classes in sweden.

What happened exactly to Olle-Christian Veiby in Finnskog

I've read "excluded for forbidden assistance" but it looks like he was stuck in snow and spectators helped him to be back on the road

skarderud

He was pushing too much over flying finish, and got stuck in the corner after ff. It isnt allowed to get assistance in the controlzone, so he got excluded. He was 3. fastest of all in the last stage, so if he keep it together he will be a guy to watch for in the wrc3 in sweden! He is fast:)
