Any intelligence yet on who Peugeot will run on Corse? I am sure they are going to want to win that one and after Canarias I think they will see their current lineup might not be strong enough. I expect at least Sarrazin and maybe Petter there? Or for some wild cards Andreucci or Duval?

Skoda say they are going to think about their lineup for Corse in the coming days. I guess it will be the usual gang (Hanninen, Kopecky, Loix, Mikkelsen and Vouilloz)

Are Proton going to Corse? Maybe somebody else could borrow Basso? :D

But still it'll because of that, it's not like the stages suck, Ypres is tricky, nowhere in Belgian stages suck will be because of the stages many European drivers didn't like the ditches. How will they do that when there's a IRC event with ERC also in it, like Ypres? Will be a bit confusing because like Tsjoen will maybe enter with it but if it only counts for ERC and not for IRC..

wwbroe
2nd May 2011, 17:50
I suppose they will make separate classifications, because like it was said here before, with 1,6T you cannot run in IRC. Those rally's that count for both IRC and ERC, like Ypres, Barum, Madeira will have to keep that in mind.

And then the question is who will feel the real winner then of Ypres. If that happens I don't think Tsjoen will rent a Mini then because he will not compete against the IRC stars what not really he's ambition but competing with them is what he likes and for the BRC for what we now know nobody is probably able to challenge him there.

wwbroe
2nd May 2011, 20:05
We will see what happens and how many drivers want to present a 1,6T at start of the rally. I guess organisers are well aware of the problem.

That is real problem. For some time it looked like these events would have to choose either IRC or ERC but not both. In the moment I think that they will run separate field of all ERC-registred competitors and the rest including IRC. Since ERC is in FIA hierarchy higher championship, ERC competitors shall run first and overall winner of the event shall be chosen from ERC field.

Fortunately it's only this season with such mess, next year 1.6T are running in IRC also and there will be no more problems.

Well 1000KM's of Spa is really exhausting for a driver and for sure one who is going for the win. He'll probably be not fully recuperated and quesnel has probably also full confidence in Bouffier.

Yeah and this is on home soil.. Something very different than in Canarias so really I wouldn't put him away of the Favorite list..

And now u want Quesnel to lose because he doesn't hire extra drivers, in MC he got complains about that because he didn't want to lose in their first home rally this year although it's Monte Carlo for them it's still a home rally.

I only want Peugeot winning with Thierry behind the wheel only that Peugeot may win ^^

An update in Toni Gardemeister's TGS Facebook page: "TGS' tip of the day: Apply for a summer job in the local post office in this island. Then drive back and forth the island for the whole summer and think what kind of pacenotes would suit those corners the best. By the autumn you would be a master - if not a post office master at least a pacenote master!"

I didn´t expect Sandell in the top 3, but being soooo much off the pace, it must be really frustrating for him. He for sure has expected better times after the good results in the SWRC in France and Germany last year.
But we mustn´t forget:
a) In the SWRC there were no tarmac specialists, so it was easier for Patrick to shine
b) Corsica roads are twistier thus more technical and not that fast

But still I hope we´ll see at least a slight improvement of Patrick!

Mirek
12th May 2011, 22:19
For sure it is not more than normal S2000 if we speak about peak power.

I don't remember any good result of Mini S2000 on tarmac. And I have doubts that 1.6T in TRT where Navarra won, have small restrictor...

mousti

It should be 30 mm but... we'll never know the size of restrictor in Navarra's Mini at Rally Adriatico! ;) Anyway I really enjoyed watch him fly on that beautiful stages! :)
But Perego on the same car, one week before, struggled a lot on tarmac... I think that Mini has been developed more for gravel than for tarmac: this could be another reason for Bengue's time.

No, :) Regional championship is ERC, APRC, CODASUR, African championship. In national series rules are up to national ASN if the event is held under the ASN or up to other organizer authority (like let's say DRS in Germany). Of course they can choose FIA rules for any reason.

I don't think that Mini is just gravel car especially considering both main test drivers are asphalt aces. It should be easy to find, do You have rules for TRT? Maybe even onboard from Adriatico could give us the answer because there are different rpm for each restrictor size...

PLuto
13th May 2011, 09:00
Because they arrived too late with regulations. And it was sure that on the beginning of this season will be only very low number of Minis for local champ. With big restrictor, everybody with this car should be unbeatable and his rivals wont be able to buy similar car. Thats why this year there are different restrictors.

Maybe it's a small part of the difference, but I don't believe a client Skoda is slower than a works Proton (Toni finished behind Basso on Canarias)

I guess it is a little bit of everything adding up to a big one (tyres, driver, setup, client car)

I agree with RS: with Toni, it´s probably a little bit of everything that slows him down sooo much in the end + we mustn´t forget that he drives his own car, so a big crash would be crucial for his financial resources.

Mirek would probably know more, but after Canarias he mentioned that Toni got a promise of new motor parts or even of a new improved motor from Skoda.

Here are http://channel.ellegy.com/ (Rally 2011 / Test Mini RRC) sound samples for Mini with 30 mm restrictor. For me it looks like the rev changes are made at about 6700-6800 rpm.

It seems that even in this case calculating with the relative size (area) of the restrictors ( 31 mm / 33 mm) give a pretty good result if WRC cars make the gear change at 8000 rpm.

Following his accident on the sixth stage of Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc, where he was driving a Peugeot 207 RC Rally as the route-opening zero car, rallying legend Ari Vatanen will be taken to hospital in Marseille for an operation to stabilise the injury to his neck.

Vatanen is expected to be airlifted to hospital either tonight or tomorrow for the operation, as soon as suitable transport can be arranged. His son Max, who was with him in the car, was uninjured.

I've just been watching the live footage from today's stages which I recorded earlier. Really nice scenery and camera shots from Corsica...

Neuville is a joy to watch, this boy will go far.

Regarding Gardemeister you can see from the onboards that he is lacking some commitment. Maybe he just doesn't have confidence in the car or tyres... I think you really have to put a lot of energy into these cars to get them to work properly and that's where he is losing out. Maybe still stuck in the ways of driving the old lazy WRCars?

99,9% imho.If you see differences with r3 cars maybe 100%

Neuville starting to feel the pressure... On SS9 he was sliding all over the place, at one slow right hander almost lost it, way too fast into the braking and saving it with big slide.

Bad setup he has..

Campana loses 9 seconds here on Bouffier battle coming up there too. Mikkelsen has gearbox problems mmm..

Go Kopecký, Loix and Gardemeister.

Is Quesnel there? Than it are teamorders for Campana in favor to Bouffier...

Neuville takes scratch !! If Campana will do teamorders it will not be free ;) he'll get something in place for that because he has nothing to do with Peugeot Sport.

Bad setup he has..

Maybe a bit yes, but overdriving it clearly. I guess he received the +4,0 split to his car because after that he was like a raging bull.

Campana's driving is very precise and beautiful. Sandell again very dissapointed, talking with curse words.

But do they change the setup over night, when it works as good as yesterday for Neuville ?

Yeah good question maybe they thought those stages from this morning were a bit more bumpy than yesterday and that's why they got it higher? I really don't know why, he was complaining bout it though.

Sandell found out before ss10 that rear diff got broken.
