Address and phone number, that's not cool.

Anyone else have this issue?

For me, I never had a problem getting here. I was off line for a few days at the beginning of all this business so when I first logged in again I came here to the new look forums and diidn't even know there had been a problem until I started looking at the threads. That said, all the way up through about yesterday I had the motorsport.com "swoosh" in the address line at the top just to the left of the http: where the standard "internet explorer" symbol is now. I always thought it was odd because even back when we were still on the same server with them i always came here via the generic www.motorsportforums.com (http://www.motorsportforums.com) and not via the motorsport.com website. That said I do see where the difference between motorsportforum and motorsportforums (we are the plural) is very minor and may have been causing some confusion, maybe

motorsportforum.com should redirect straight to motorsportforums.com if it doesn't that's something I need to know about!

I see your point. For what its worth, I just went ahead and manually typed www.motorsportforum.com (http://www.motorsportforum.com) in both IE8 and Chrome and it came straight here.

MrJan

I always come in through rallyforum.com (it was the domain I first found the forum using and it's easier to type), but just tried motorsportforum.com (without the s) and it came straight here.

Just did manually via my CrackBerry and it comes straight here, too (many thanks for the improved mobile site as well)

Is there a way to clear your DNS cache (not the same as the internet cache where all the porn lives :p ) in Firefox?

Edit: Try this...
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/clear-dns-cache/

Mark
23rd February 2011, 11:55
Your DNS cache won't be held by firefox but the IP layer of the transport stack in the OS. Either way the cache will be cleared approx every 2 hours as thats the Time to Live on the name server record. Since we've been on this IP address for over a month, that won't be an issue!

Go into the command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" I suspect though that its an issue with the dns server

what i can not work out is why some subdomains work
http://btccpages.motorsportforum.com/forums/?styleid=15 works
http://worldrally.motorsportforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?98-World-Rally works

Online Anonymous Proxy works

Thunderbolt. Have you tried putting ipconfig /flushdns into your command prompt? :) It would seem unlikely that the problem is with your computer tbh but this would in my opinion solve it if it is your PC :)

Daniel

I wonder if Thunderbolt has blocked me or something :p

Someone tell him to type ipconfig /flushdns into the command prompt

It's taken me a while to see the video - it's difficult to find a machine which will actually play flash!

It's very strange! I've checked through my DNS entries to see if I'd left a bit of the old IP address in there and there isn't one! Then checked through the webserver to see if there is still a redirect there, and there isn't!

Have you done a spyware scan on your machine? You hung around on the rebel forums for longer than us. I don't want to accuse the thieving twats of anything that they're not ACTUALY guilty of, but I wonder if there's some little bit of spyware they've injected into your system to redirect you to their site?

Daniel

Thunderbolt, if you've a blank CD laying about you could burn yourself of an Ubuntu disc and boot from that, if you still get the funky redirection going on then it would be certain that the problems are external to yourself and that it looks like a DNS server not updating properly or something like that......

Note, this is what's known as a 'Live CD' where the entire operating system runs from the files on the CD drive. It allows you to temporarily have a different operating system running on your machine but it doesn't affect *any* of the files on your hard drive - unless you explicitly ask it to!

Yup :) I'm not a big linux fan, but I have used Ubuntu quite a bit at work to eliminate the OS from the equation when diagnosing faults or just ot use the inbuilt partitioning software which is called GParted.
