Although there was no Nationwide Series race this week, I thought I would undertake the same process I did in the Truck FIA points thread and see what it would look like if the eligabilty requirements were imposed in the FIA standings as well:

001 R Stenhouse...............218
002 E Sadler..................148
003 R Sorenson................140
004 J Allgaier................129
005 A Almirola................101
t06 J Leffler.................064
t06 T Bayne...................064
008 K Wallace.................061
009 M Annett..................036
010 S Wallace.................034

As you can see, dropping the "declared" Cup drivers Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick from the top 10 makes things slighty more interesting, but also illustrates just how well Ricky Stenhouse has been doing this year, basicly destroying the odds on preseason favorite Elliott Sadler by 70 pts, almost 3 full races in FIA points.

The more punitive Bri-Bri standings are actually much closer with Stenhouse (986) just 14 points ahead of Sadler (972).

When I made the post after Chicagoland I had forgotten that there were only 34 races in Natwide this year (not the 35 it had been for the last several years) so Stenhouse is now elminated, too. Its down to just Cuz vs Shrub for the 2011 FIA Natwide Championship.

Now keeping it to just the "declared Nationwide" drivers, the standings look like this:

001 R Stenhouse...............228
002 E Sadler..................148
003 R Sorenson................146
004 J Allgaier................130
005 A Almirola................101
006 T Bayne...................072
007 J Leffler.................064
008 K Wallace.................061
009 M Annett..................036
010 S Wallace.................034

Everyone from Almirola on down is elminated with 5 races to go.

In real life it's Stenhouse over Sadler by 22 points (1025-1003)...

009 A Almirola................101
010 K Harvick.................086

No real changes since last week, except Logano jumped past Sorenson.

Applying the Bri-Bri declaration rule to this deal the standings look like this:

001 R Stenhouse...............238
002 E Sadler..................163
003 R Sorenson................146
004 J Allgaier................130
005 A Almirola................101
006 T Bayne...................074
007 J Leffler.................064
008 K Wallace.................061
009 M Annett..................036
010 S Wallace.................034

Everyone from Allgaier on down is eliminated with 4 to go, and with Sorenson not really having a ride you can probably stick a fork in him too.
Stenhouse CAN clinch next week if he finishes 10th or better and if Sadler doesn't score points.

In the real standings, it's Stenhouse over Sadler by 20 (1064-1044)

010 K Harvick.................094

Its basically all over but the cryin here in Nationwide. Shrub needs to win the next race just to stay alive-in fact he has to win the 3 remaining races, and Cuz cant finish p8 or better ONCE or its over.

Applying this to the Nationwide only drivers:

001 R Stenhouse...............240
002 E Sadler..................175
003 R Sorenson................146
004 J Allgaier................136
005 A Almirola................101
006 T Bayne...................089
007 J Leffler.................064
008 K Wallace.................061
009 M Annett..................036
010 S Wallace.................034

It's down to just Stenhouse and Sadler here. If Stenhouse scores just 10 more points then Sadler would have to win out and win on the wins tirebreaker. If Stenhouse scores 11 more points its over.

In the real Bri Bri world its Stenhouse over Sadler by just 15 (1100-1085) Those 2 DNFs that Stenhouse had early in the season could loom large by seasons end. Still 15 points is alot to make up in just 3 races IF Stenhouse just concentrates on staying in the top 10 every race. With Shrub and Cuz in the races, its going to be hard for Sadler to score any wins and thus tack on the 3 bonus points for winning the race.
