Shrub is basicly running away with it. Everyone from p9 (Clint Bowyer) on down is eliminated, with Crafton and Peters facing elimination the next race.

Things do get a bit more interesting if NASCAR's eligibilty rules that were instituted this year (along with the new Bri-Bri points system) are imposed in the FIA Standings:

001 R Hornaday.............153
002 Jo Sauter..............149
003 A Dillon...............140
004 J Buescher.............130
005 M Crafton..............099
006 T Peters...............094
007 T Bodine...............072
008 J Coulter..............069
009 C Whitt................068
010 P Kligerman............064

By removing Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer (who are obviously declared for the Sprint Cup Series) it makes the top 5 battle more interesting, and the top 4 are all within 1 race of the leader.

What I also find interesting is that when one looks at the real points standings is just how punitive the Bri-Bri system really is. In real life it is Austin Dillon who is the points leader (661) by 2 points over James Buescher (659). The FIA "leader" Ron Hornaday is 47 back (614) in P5 which is more than a full race since the Truck Grid is only 36 starters versus 43 in Sprint Cup and Nationwide.

006 K Harvick..............130
007 M Crafton..............099
008 T Peters...............094
009 C Bowyer...............079
010 T Bodine...............078

Crafton and Peters are now elminated. Harvick is still technically alive, but he's basicly elminated (not running enough races to have a shot).

Now, applying this to the "declared" truck drivers only the standings look like this:

001 R Hornaday.............178
002 A Dillon...............158
003 Jo Sauter..............149
004 J Buescher.............145
005 M Crafton..............099
006 T Peters...............094
007 T Bodine...............078
008 C Whitt................072
t09 J Coulter..............069
t09 N Piquet...............069

In real life it's Dillon over Buescher by 3 (704-701) and the FIA leader (Hornaday) is P5 (662), 42 markers back. 5 races to go.

006 K Harvick..............130
007 M Crafton..............117
008 T Peters...............109
009 T Bodine...............088
010 C Bowyer...............079

Buescher and Harvick are now facing elimination at Talladega (in fact Harv will be eliminated at 'dega as he is not entered in the race).

Now, limiting it to the "declared" truck series drivers:

001 R Hornaday.............203
002 Jo Sauter..............161
003 A Dillon...............158
004 J Buescher.............145
005 M Crafton..............117
006 T Peters...............109
007 T Bodine...............088
008 N Piquet...............077
009 C Whitt................076
010 J Coulter..............069

Everyone from Bodine on down is eliminated, and Crafton is facing elimination at Talladega.

The real bri-bri standings have been shaken up a bit with all the issues that occured at Las Vegas. Austin Dillon is still the leader, by 5 over Sauter (731-726). Hornaday has closed up to just 21 back (710) in p4.

007 M Crafton..............117
008 T Peters...............109
009 T Bodine...............096
010 C Bowyer...............079

Hornaday's recent run has made things rather interesting, hasn't it? In fact, had Hornaday had somehow made a run around Wallace at the end of the race Shrubs lead would have been just 1 point!!!!

In any event, it's shaping up to be a 2 horse race. Harvick is with just 3 races to go, Harvick is eliminated; Dillon, Sauter and Buescher are facing elimination in the next race.

Now, keeping the FIA standings to just the declared truck drivers, the standings look like this:

001 R Hornaday.............221
002 A Dillon...............164
003 Jo Sauter..............161
004 J Buescher.............160
005 M Crafton..............117
006 T Peters...............109
007 T Bodine...............096
008 N Piquet...............077
009 C Whitt................076
010 J Coulter..............069

Not nearly as close here. In fact Hornaday can clinch next race.

In the real life Bri-Bri standings it's Dillon by 3 over Buescher (769-766). Hornaday, in p4 only 16 points back was penalised 25 points early in the season for a faulty part (rear end gear). Had he been penalised the same 6 points everyone else seems to get he would have 772 points, or 3 more than Dillon.

Well,, we ended up with a split championship this year. Also a very high number (for the truck series) of drivers scored at least 1 point this year (45).

Congrats to Ron Hornaday, the 2011 FIA Truck Series Champion
Congrats to Austin Dillon, the 2011 Camping World Truck Series Champion
