Same as the geography one but music based.

What song are these lyrics from and who did the original?

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning

As you are a DJ and such,
What is the most requested song you you get,
A. From the Recently crop?
B. From all time?
C. Worst song you played?

Question to CarlMetro,
As you are a DJ and such,
What is the most requested song you you get,
A. From the Recently crop?
B. From all time?
C. Worst song you played?

A) It varies as to what is in the charts but popular stuff like Scissor Sisters, The Killers and Justin Timberlake are quite popular. Plus stuff like Pussycat Dolls and Beyonce. I also get a lot of 'got any R & B' type requests from morons who wouldn't know a decent R & B track if it bit the on the bum.

B) Again this varies quite a bit. There are popular standards Such as Dancing Queen by Abba, Love Really Hurts Without You by Billy Ocean and Don't Stop Me Now by Queen but I also get lots of requests for 'party' stuff like Grease Mega-mix, Macarena and YMCA. One record for me stands out amongst all others as probably the most popular I've had requested over the past 17 years I've been DJ-ing and that is Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations. It was a reasonable success when first released in 1968 with 15 weeks on the charts but I think it would be a guaranteed No1 for many weeks if it was re-released in it's original format because I rarely do a show without someone asking for it.

C) Too many to list, things like Crazy Frog, Cotton Eye Joe, anything by Black Lace, the list goes on and on. That's the trouble with being someone who is trying to keep people happy :\

OK, enough of the boring stuff..............

In the UK charts the most No1 record in a year achieved by a single artist/group is three. This has been done only 13 times since the chart began in 1953, with The Beatles taking three of those 13 in '63, '64 and '65. That leaves ten other acts who have achieved three No1 in the UK charts in the same year, name three of them?

(bonus point is you can name the year ;) )

walrus81
3rd January 2007, 14:52
bit of a wild guess here:
Cliff Richard, Shakin' Stevens, Spice Girls

CarlMetro
3rd January 2007, 15:12
Spice Girls were actually the last act to achieve three in a year, 1996.

Cliff Richard, despite his 14 UK No1's only ever had two in a year twice, 1959 & 1960, but came close to four when both Voice In The Wilderness and Fall In Love With You both made it to No2 in 1960.

Shakin' Stevens thankfully only ever had four No1's, although two of those did come in 1981 and he neary had a third in the same year but You Drive Me Crazy fell short of the top spot at No2.

1. Spice Girls
2.
3.

Yeah it's strictly functions these days, I used to do a couple of clubs in the mid to late 90's but the dance scene has really gone t!ts up over the recent past. I've been offered an over 25's night by a guy I used to work for but part of the trouble with that is you seen the same old faces asking for the same old requests every week and it gets quite boring. I actually prefer the mobile stuff these days but only do one a week now.

Oasis have had 7 No1's but the best they've ever achieved is two in the same year and that was 2005.

1. Spice Girls 1996
2. Take That 1993
3.

I think Elvis got at least 3 number ones in 2004 or 2005 :s

Other than that I'd guess Westlife :erm:

The singles chart isn't the best way of judging the quality of an artist, the album chart is more relevent.

CarlMetro
4th January 2007, 12:38
No not Westlife, especially seeing as The Spice Girls where the last act to achieve three in a year in 1996 and the members of Westlife would have still been singing in their school choirs back then ;)

So a little clue would that you need to think of artists who were around prior to the Spice Girls
