Welcome to FGP for 2011!

For those returning the rules and budget are the same as last year. For those who are new I will give a brief rundown of how FGP works. Please visit this website for more information: http://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/

Each team owner has a budget of 48,000,000 in which to build a team.
Each team consists of the following:
Two race drivers
One reserve driver
one chassis (for ex: Team Lotus)
one engine
one bonus GP

This is a sample FGP team that fits in the 48 million range:

CucamongaF1
Vettel, Glock
Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull/STR reserve driver)
HRT
Cosworth
Bahrain

Once an owner has assembled her or his team it must be posted in this thread for it to be 'official'.
All teams must be unique. This is an example of a unique team:

Team Jaguar-Ford
Vettel, Glock
Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull/STR reserve driver)
HRT
Cosworth
Japan
Everything is the same but the bonus GP, therefore it is a legal team.
Lastly, I cannot stress this enough:
Each team's third driver is someone who is NOT on the price list at: http://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/home/price-list.

If you wish to enter a team please travel to this website:
http://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/
find a team that fits the budget limits and then return here to enter it.

Robert Kubica will be left in the price list, even if there is a slim chance he races this season. Once Renault announce his replacement I will add him to the price list.

The deadline for entering teams is March 10.

Thank You very much for reading this and good luck to all who enter!

OK - first time of doing this then;

Kobayashi,Kovalianen
Senna (reserve) and if Renault pick him, will choose Hulkenberg as my reserve reserve! ;)
Ferrari
Mercedes
Monaco

I would recommended against this as I do not have a definite price for Senna or Heidfeld yet.
If you keep your team as is just remember that you will be forced to change it once Lotus Renault makes their decision. :)

Oh, don't forget a team name! :D

Also, if he does become driver, can I change my second driver to him and go with the Hulk for 3rd..

Good point. Here are two scenarios, please choose one:

1) Change your team now.
2) Wait until Renault choose their replace, then change your team.

I ask this only because confusion will become my friend if the majority chooses Heidfeld or Senna and then decides to make changes to their team.
The one year I allowed changes so many people "took me up on my offer" that I went loony trying to keep up!
The more sane and simple FGP is the better. :)

Kinda have to agree, I was expecting to pay about as much for Nick as Koba, maybe a little more. Nick has far more experience and performed similar results last year when they were in the same team. Now he's in a supposedly better car and probably has more input regarding its development. So, yeah...

N. Jones
17th February 2011, 00:55
Nick has two things going against him:

1) He is priced where he finished last year.
2) He hasn't won a damn thing in his career and I don't see that changing this year.

The rules state once all teams are set there are no changes. https://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/home/the-rules:
"Once your team is set revisions will not be allowed unless your team is missing information or illegal in some way."

Isn't it sort of dangerous to select Heidfeld? If Kubica comes back late in the season and Heidfeld is out the teams with him are down to 1 driver, right?

Basically, selecting Heidfeld is a bet that Kubica won't be back this year, or is that why Heidfeld is a steal at 7m? I've got my team in and it wont matter to me, but I'm asking on behalf of the community.

Thanks again N.Jones. I know things have been kind of crazy because of the Kubica injury.

I would imagine that if Kubica were to be back mid season he would replace the driver with the least points (which would be Petrov) and help Renault in the constructors championship.

Shifter

Didn't think of that. Now everybody with Petrov is going to be scared! Really though, I could only imagine Kubica stepping into one of the cars in Abu Dhabi for the last 2 races to knock the rust off going into next year.

Now that Renault is out of the manufacture business AND is winning races with Red Bull, they are getting great advertising without putting up a lot of money.

A Clarification:

"If a reserve driver is qualified for a race, and one of the teams' main drivers did not meet the 107% rule, does that allow for activation of the reserve driver?"

I will allow this. If your third driver qualifies for a race AND one of your race drivers falls outside of the 107% rule you will receive any points your third driver scores.

Thanks Andrew for bringing this to my attention. I will add it to the rules section of the site.

So, finally, I win a GP in my fourth year of participating in FGP!

Congratulations to Mt. Damavand F1 Racing!

Yes, I've cheated cause it was my bonus GP, but these days there is no way to win a GP other than having it as your bonus.

This will probably be the only highlight of the season for me. I After much deliberation between a Mercedes engine or a Ferrari one, I went with Ferrari based on testing and against my own heart. How was I to know that McLaren will suddenly find a second in two weeks without testing?

Unless my drivers, Heidfeld and Aguersuari really pick up their game, I'm going to finish lower than 20th, for certain!

A good showing from Kobayashi but not strong enough for a first driver. 6th place in the GP for Mt Damavand F1, and still the overall leader. I have to say, I wasn't expecting to lead for 2 GPs :-)

Still, I will need Heidfeld to be on podium every GP to compensate for my Ferrari engine. How I wish I'd gone for Mercedes now... or Renault...

I should have waited for Renault to announce. Heidfeld is a steal of a price, and sadly for me most of the teams leading me snatched him up. All I can do now is hope Kobayashi raises his game, as all my money went into chassis and engine.

A respectable (equal) 6th for Team Mt. Damavand F1 in this GP, but I fall off top, down to second place now. Will be a big struggle to finish on the podium at the end of the season, me thinks.

I wish I had chosen Buemi as opposed to Alguersuari now. They were the same price, and Alguersuari was better in the second half of last season so I thought his form will continue to this season, but Buemi seems to be the better driver in Torro Rosso now.

A 100 point race for me. I'll have to admit, I was glad that Mark did finally got by Kobayashi, but right after he did I thought about the points I lost by Kobay losing the position!

Oh, I know that very well.

I chose McLaren in 2007 and the got banned from the WDC.
I then selected someone who's name escapes me in 2008 and didn't do too badly (I know I had Felipe this year, so it was my best year :) .
In 2009 I chose BMW and the stunk so bad they left at the end of the season.
Last year I chose Red Bull and did well but my Force India drivers let me down badly.
This season I chose Chewbacca and his merry men of mercedes GP, who somehow sucked all of the talent out of Ross Brawn.

Next year, F it, I am choosing McLaren-Mercedes and any two decent drivers that will fit within budget!

Stasio i Jasio GP (owner ojciec dyrektor) is still in very strong standings in 5th place overall with 351 points, and he has not yet used his bonus GP. They next closest team to have not used their bonus GP is 27 points behind him. He is also ahead of 23 teams that have already used their bonus GP.

I think this is by far the highest I've been in the overall standings, but I think Stasio i Jasio GP is sitting in very good position here, especially if his bonus GP (Brazil) works out good for him.

Problem is the constructors champs are too expensive:
Red Bull - 22
Renault - 15
That's 37, leaving you with 11 for 2 drivers and a reserve driver. You can't push into the top 15 if your two drivers are utter rubbish.
