Former prolifiic forum member and BTCC Paddock legend Tom Jones (Crewe, Cheshire) is going to be doing a charity fund-raising drive from Lands End to John O'Groats between 28th March and 1st April, along with his friends and fellow members from the Peugeot 106 Rallye Register, in aid of the Salvation Army's Emergency Services teams. Called Le Jog Rallye, the trip will take in some of the UK's most scenic roads, with Tom taking part in his Salvation Army-liveried Peugeot 106 Rallye. Seen below testing at a secret location in preparation. :D

He's asked me to post the link here to his Just Giving donation website, incase anyone who remembers him from the good old days would like to contribute something towards his big trip.

Here's the link to that site: http://www.justgiving.com/lejograllye

And here's the link to the Official Website of Le Jog Rallye, which tells you a bit more about what they're doing, why they're doing it and the route: http://www.motorphoto.co.uk (http://www.motorphoto.co.uk/)

He would like me to point out that this is nothing to do with the NGK Laser Platinum Pole Position Award or Renaultsport UK, but if they want to give him money, then by all means go for it. ;)

Anyone that knows Tom will know that the fact that he is in a car, driving, is in itself worth coughing up some money! :p

I can only think Tom has managed to fit in the car adopting the Fred Flintstone driving position - his legs are too long to get in normally surely! Guess that explains the jacked up suspension...

My guess is that the 106 is now rear engined and the front end houses his outstretched legs.

The rear seats have been stripped out along with the fronts and in their places are a pair of Cobra Monaco bucket seats, situated in the rear footwells. Except he had to remove the passenger one and put the standard seat back in because the DSA were being very strict with him.

The 'Road to the Isles' from Crianlarich to Fort William

Crianlarich to Fort William is the A82, a very beautiful and scenic road, but sadly, not the 'Road to the Isles'. That particular title belongs to the A830 from Fort William to Malliag. A road which he should do IMO, especially since they are about to remove the single track section. Then get the ferry from Malliag across to Skye and go back over the Skye bridge, the scenery, especially on the ferry ride, is simply breathtaking.

Then the trip back on the A87 from Skye to the A82 is probably one of the most scenic drives in the country.
