Here's an interesting read for anyone who wants to see what previous experience David Bartrum and Motorbase have of running Fords... http://www.motorbaseperformance.co.uk/press-releases/2011/bartrum-goes-back-to-his-ford-roots.html

I for one would love to see how David Bartrum would get on driving one of his new Fords..

From the link:
Back then, Bartrum's Fords ran in a striking red livery with gold wheels and that could be a pointer to the colour scheme of the Airwaves-backed Focuses when the 2011 BTCC season gets underway.
Just putting two and two together here, were these red Sierras ex-Dick Johnson cars from the ATCC, which would have been another red Ford running the number 17?
(am I just a little bit anoraky for noticing this?)

Interesting article on Motorbase. :)
The colourscheme was probably inspired by the DJR cars. Two Dick Johnson Sierras did come to the UK and were run in the BTCC by Trakstar. Robb Gravett's 1990 BTCC-winning car has been restored and is now back in it's original livery.

Is that thing at the end about Dave's dog the reason for the dogs under the bonnets of the Beemers? Cos I always wondered why they had Scooby Doo in the engine bay :)

If you read the full story you will find your answer..
Even though dear old Sampson died in 1992, his memory lives on with the Motorbase team. The logo has been on every race car turned out by Motorbase and even appears on all the team's trucks, cars and vans. Now, with a move back to Ford for 2011 it will be entirely fitting for Sampson's image to be on the BTCC Focuses.
