A true stalwart of the BTCC. He had a tough time last year. Can anyone tell me what David's best ever BTCC result was? Was it 3rd at Knockhill in 2006?

I believe it was yes. 2006 really was his best year by a long way in that Integra, I bet he wishes he had kept with it rather than the switch to the Alfa's in 2007.

He did have a hard 2010 with a couple accidents and he seemed to get the worst of the NGTC engines un-reliability.

It will be shame if he does retire as he is a good racer and a bloody good laugh when you see him in the pit lane walk about.

Apparently, he is taking the year off.

Plans to be back in 2012. Not sure what in though..

Oh dear, The "back the year after next" story... This is what happened to Jason Hughes, Erkut Kizilirmak, Martyn Bell, the Xero Competition Lexus' and (IIRC) Vauxhall to name a few

He will be back racing, not necessarily in the BTCC. You can be sure of that!

I do hope so, he's a great guy and a pretty good driver when everything works for him

Indeed. His drives at Thruxton that year were some of the most exciting of recent seasons, I thought. Shame he never managed a repetition.
