In each rally, there is one (mainly the last) stage in the last day that will be broadcasted live on TV. The first 3 drivers take bonus points (3-2-1).

i΄m also going to visit rallye greece in 2011, seems to be a very nice rallye.

is it a good idea to get a hotel near loutraki? seems like it΄s very central to visit the stages from there.

does someone know when and where the shakedwon will be?

You are welcome darkstar!!! The location of the Shakedown is the same as in 2009. The start is only 6.05 km from the Service Park (08.00-13.00). I hope you enjoy our rally!!!

Shake 3 km outside Loutraki!
Loutraki is good for Shake, and days 2 and 3!
It depends what you want to see in day 1, if you are satisfied with only 1 ss in Friday then ok! otherwise you have to do at least 100kms for Thiva

thanks for youre quick replys! driving some km is no problem, i think it΄s ok to go to Thiva, then to Eleftherohori and then to Mavrolimnis on friday, and on saturday it΄s maybe even possible to see 5 stages, Klenia Mycenae, then Kefalari (theyre pretty close together, maybe 60 km, so leave after 45 minutes on Klenia Mycenae) in the afternoon the same and in the evening Nea Politia. or would you say its not possible because of traffic etc? and it΄s a better idea then to watch just 2 times Thiva on friday, 2 times Klenia Mycenae or Kefalari and the night stage on saturday and two times Loutraki/Aghii Theodorion on sunday plus the shakedwon on thursday with no stress at all?

I think that your second plan is feasible. You have to solve many problems if you like to see many SS every day.

We are seruiously looking at including this event on our long awaited vacation to the northern hemisphere. What is the best arrangements to make, eg go on a rally tour or find your own way around.
What / where are the best deals for accomodation and hire vehicles
Any other guidance from those with experience of the event would be appreciated

the stages are nothing special....a good program is...go to the shakedown....go to the friday stages....visit the local beaches for a swim on saturday morning.....go to the night stage and see it getting cancelled....then go on the power stage...then home.

Lampros In order the Andersson tactic to seem legit you must have on your site the amount you need and the amount gathered from donations so far..... otherwise it seems like a stunt....

for example how would the one donating will know that the amount was gathered ?? friends and family will be easy to learn such information but if you want help from people that do not know you i am sure they will need more info in order to trust you their money. Also will they know if the donations exeeded the amount needed (which in that case they should have their money back) ??

the way you are presenting it, it is not very credible. Especially since you ask for help from foreigners. And although in greece we know you are one of the most legit drivers around when it comes to sponsorship i think people from other countries will need more information than just "take your word for it".

Wim_Impreza
30th April 2011, 14:39
Not agree with you N.O.T. I already promised Lambros a small amount of money. Without the help from foreigners, it is impossible for him to start with a good preparation and car in the Acropolis Rally in my opinion.

It is good that Lambros is doing this and also that he said it in English on his site. Without his words here and on his site, foreign people couldn't know that he really want to participate with a good car in the Acropolis Rally.

Maybe, but it is his own decision to do that or not.

N.O.T
30th April 2011, 15:11
of course it is...but i think more people would be motivated to donate if they actually could see if the target is close or not....

All the signs so far show what he will be there with a wrc which is good.

GINE
30th April 2011, 16:00
In the following days, all the info will be on the site. Of course you will be able to see the amount gathered. I am still waiting for some answers from sponsors so the amount needed from donations is not yet fixed.
Thank you all for your support so far

Just came back from Fords tests.
7 hours, plenty of passages, and an exit from road just in front of me,left me a mirror as a souvenir.
Exit just 30 meters from their service,in a right hand corner which tightens 2 times.Came much more wide than previous times, and at the second ''tightens'' went out in outside of corner.Just a broken wheel.
Service mechanics came there by foot, and all togather were laughing(Jari including)
Jari very friendly, answered almost all questions.
new cars are much more spectacular, and much more noisy.

If you like to go into the stage with your car you must be there 3 hours before 1st car timetable.

But if you like to leave your car outside the stage, you can drive any time you like to Bissia, park your car in the village and reach the stage. I am not sure but I think that if there is heavy traffic, the police will close the road to Bissia before the village. In that case, you have to park the car before Bissia, walk through the village and then for another kilometer before you reach the stage (not recommended under the hot sun).

N.O.T. have you seen so much "spectacular driving" here in Greece with WRCs, and you are so full of that, that by the miss of Al Qassimi the first thing that comes into your mind is irony? We see WRCs once a year! Al Qassimi, although is slow in times, is one of the most spectacular drivers in WRC on gravel! Have we got here in Greece many better drivers?
I have been watching rallies here in Greece for more than 20 years and especially in the last 4-5 years "spectacular driving" is something I do not see anymore and I start to miss! When you post comments about how **** is Greek rallying, that does not agree with the comment you made above! maybe thats the mentality and the situation in greek rallying is like that...we always pay too much attention on the cars rather than the drivers....

and i find spectacular someone who is on the limit holding his lines rather than the sideways style of Mr. Quassimy, Very few manage to combine the two and then its something great to watch indeed..... i think if i would like to see sideways action i would visit those drift shows.

But spectacular is something subjective....so i have no reason to argue, however when i see a sad face because Al quassimy is not going to be present i think its funny.

I would have no problem seeing 30 cars of the absolute top drivers rather than 90 entries with WRCs who drive them like advertisment taxis.

Ooooo I thought that you coming from Loutraki.
From Thiva you will come just in opposite side than I said before. From Schinos to Bissia it is asphalted road and ss use it for 1 or 2 kilometers. They came from gravel - asphalt and gravel again. But they close it 3 hours before. There is NOT detour. Therefore if you like to see this ss come early and park your car after this asphalt section end you can go to Loutraki any time you like.If you dont like to see ss you must use an itinenary Thiva- Elefsina- -Korinth canal -Loutraki.

Yeah not the best entry list you'll ever see but I'm sure the economic situation in Greece has contributed to that. Most of the top competitors are there, though I'm sure Athanassoulas is still trying to find the budget for the Fiesta.

Athanassoulas's Fiesta WRC livery: http://athanassoulas.gr/files/Fiesta.jpg

Based on Warmbold stories and how the other Fiesta WRC privateers managed in recent events, I hope Athanassoulas will have better luck (i.e. a decent car....)

Best of luck to Lambros. I hope that the Fiesta will be good and reliable and that he will find his rythm quickly. Keep in mind that his last competitive outing was Catalunya 2009 ! In fact he has done very few rallies in his career. In the Greek championship his last full season was a 4-5 years ago with the Fiesta S1600 - one of the most unreliable cars ever - when I think he finished only one rally.

Hi all!

I'm from Japan and going to Rally Acropolis for the first time. I can't wait it.

I'll stay a hotel in Loutraki.
If I want to go to Thiva(SS1&5), which way is better?
I checked Google map and it says we should take motorway E94 then E962. It will take about 1hour and 40mins.
But according to access map, we should heading up from Loutraki and go along the sea, then take E962. Google map says it will take 2 hours.
I'm not sure which is better
Someone please tell me!

compared to the past yes the entry is rather lousy....the level of Greek rallying doesn't help either. If we exclude Athanassoulas the rest are just going to make our brains hurt....but ok the swrc entry is quite nice. Pity it did not attract any good privateers like sardinia did.

Well NOT as I mentioned before, especially for privateers then money has a lot to do with it. I know that even in the UK there are drivers that are keeping their cars in their garages and waiting until the economy improves until they think go back out. Unfortunately that's the way it is at the moment and even more so in Greece, hopefully it won't be too much longer before it's back to something more normal.

But hey, it gives you longer after the stage finishes to chill out, relax, have an early lunch and have a snooze under the shade of a tree before they come around again ;)

5th June 2011, 01:28
unfortunatelly and as it was pointed out earlier with the mentality we have in this country even if the situation was better you would see 20 greek privateers instead of 5 cruising through the stages....and its normal when after the event nobody has the balls to say to those tourists that they were total crap and everyone congratulates them for the finish in the event....

It's weird we thought that too here in Belgium but this year the entries of many rallies are huge! Many WRC's and some rallies full booked and have to refuse teams to start because the limit is meeted.

Only one week to go now!

It’ll be my first Acropolis Rally and I’m very excited.

I’d have a couple of questions:
Will there be any kind of spectator guide with good maps for sale?
Are there usually a lot of spectators and does the rally cause any traffic jams?

Acropolis Rally, 16-19 June 2011 - Spectators - Access to SS (http://www.acropolisrally.gr/EN/2011/spectators-2011/acces_to_ss-2011/)

click on the individual stages and a menu will open with the map and the access points for each stage with road-book style directions

As for traffic jams i highly doubt it, stay away from the dog city of athens and you will be fine....my guess is that the spectators are going to be much less this year, you might encounter the odd stupid idiot blocking the path to the stage with his car of course but i do not think you are going to have huge problems with parking spots if you follow the direction of the guide.

Enjoy the event.

i would not recomend it though since its a very slow twisty section but you can watch the cars for long time...if it is your cup of tea go for it...

Thiva is not a very good stage but its close to athens if you stay there and there is a very fast jump at about 2-2.5 kms into the stage...

Ok, heard today that because it is "high" season concerning tourism the flight coordinators will not follow full strike and will stop working for only around 4 hours in the midday-afternoon e.g 12.00-16.00 which means that everybody lands and takes off with just some delays for the flights during these hours...

"Regarding your inquiry, kindly be advised that until now no information has been relay to us if at 15th of June 2011 there is going to be or not an Air Traffic Controllers strike, which may affect departure/arrival flights. For any further information, you may either contact the airline you travel with, or you may contact our department 24hrs before the schedule time of your departure, Terminal Services: 0030 210 3530000, e-mail: [email:mvkiac2m]airport_info@aia.gr[/email:mvkiac2m]."

Airlines won't want to make any decisions until the last possible moment, as it will cost them money to cancel a flight and they won't want to do that if there is a chance that it will fly after all. So I imagine that it won't be until Tuesday that you'd get an email from them.
My problem is that I fly to London on Tuesday evening which is on a seperate booking to my main flights to Greece, so I could be stuck there depending on what happens. Though I imagine that I will get as far as Geneva before any delays would start, and it's preferable to be as close as possible so they can start flying again as soon as they can.

Of course, we could all be worrying for nothing if the strike doesn't go ahead, which is what I'm hoping for. Or, like I said previously, I don't mind a delay as long as it means still arriving on Wednesday at some point.
