Can someone point me in the right direction, just in the past I received a warning re insulting a fellow forum member but within the Chit Chat section I see insult after insult from a few members; BDunnell & Daniel in particular.

Now are they

pals of the forum owner / moderators and therefore exempt from forum rules
owners of the forum and therefore exempt from forum rules

or do these rules no longer apply re insults to any member?

Just curious like

Just curious why some are allowed to insult but others aren't. If the rules have changed then fine I can give as good as I get but don't want to be banned for giving folk a taste of their own medicine.

Just want to establish the rules before playing.

you're full of crap

you are the weakest link

goodbye

I somehow don't think the members you so kindly pointed out are getting special treatment

That is not an insult but a statement of fact.

The two I mentioned clearly are if insults are not allowed, if insults are allowed then no they aren't, so which is it?

So, if I insult you, but I consider it to be a fact, that's alright?

What if these other so called insults were just facts?

That followed umpteen insults directed at me and others from the two I mentioned - this was the reason I asked, or do the rules apply only to certain people - a simple clarification is all I was after.

I wouldn't question it too deeply as you've got away with an awful lot over the past 3 weeks or so. The insults you have been dishing out to people like myself who have not insulted you once, means you are very lucky not to be banned by now. You've called me thick, a liar, a dullard, and an idiot and its really not acceptable. The mods have either not read the 'Smoking' thread, or they are a little more relaxed in the 'Chit Chat' section of this forum. I know for a fact Pino banned a member for nearly a month for calling another member an 'idiot' on the F1 forum, so its probably best not to attract attention to yourself with the amount of offensive posts on that thread. ;)

i gat a 1 month ban 2 years ago for insulting A member
he had a love affair with jenson button an a hate for mark webber

Q:does SD ring a bell

Ahh but that the thing I haven't insulted anyone, please read what is actually written rather than what you think is written.

I have been called an idiot though, hence why I asked for the clarification.

Maybe, just maybe, the people that argue, debate, and so forth with Dunnell and Daniel aren't the kind of people that get their feelings hurt and run crying to a mod to fight their battles for them. Then again, maybe they're not smart enough to realize they've been insulted in a subtle manner.

You need to upgrade and start insulting a better class of people.

nah, if he don't want any "issues", he just needs to do it like them, not straight up and forward....they provoke with subtle and some not so subtle jabs, and dish it out, but they don't like it to be thrown back in their face, so they fuss
and then they get the other guy penalized. Much like a football or a socceer match, where someone gives a hidden little jab when the ump is not looking, and then when they get the whacking they were asking for, roll around on the ground and get the ump all excited.

see post right above....more like the mods don't get the insult and ignore the personal implications. Me I love combat, but others around here do not. They just want to whine and run after starting a fight....

Are maybe they are like BDunnel said, " do not have the slightest clue"?

Sounds about right

Just received a warning re having a dig at someone who does nothing but insult, never ever comes up with a valid argument just name calls, it's like being in the play ground with teacher's pet again.

You'll note that the warnings you see are just for you, you don't get told which warnings are given to the other members.

It's temporary.

why was Bolton Midnight banned?

Firstly, Mark does not generally discuss bans.

Secondly, did you not see how he carried on?

well I know some of his posts were insulting, I was wondering what post got him banned,

In general it doesn't have to be one post in particular which gets someone a temp ban. If fact it usually isn't.

Opinions are great but its the way we convey them through debate, and people on here demonstrate it in very different ways. Theres alot of insults flying around here lately and its not just Bolton, but when insults are combined with the ever present hostile tone in every post, you're going to stand out for all the wrong reasons. The US Gun Law thread was a classic example of this, and it seemed when all else fails, just insult the other posters nationality..Rather than putting each other down to score points, put more effort into the strength of your arguement would be my advice whether its welcome or not.. . :)

All good points, but I personally hope that this new infractions system cleans out all the threads from those distracting from it, and that those being civil can continue to discuss the topic at hand. Often all it takes is one or two people to end up getting a thread locked. Even if the people suffer a short ban they screw everyone else over by getting the thread locked. It would be nice to see the offenders booted and the thread remain open.
