Great - looking forward to this one very much. Glad to see every stage is an original too so no problems for me. Hopefully the Ford will be as good on snow as it was on tarmac and get me a nice ol' podium.

Completed shakedown with very mixed results. Found it nearly impossible to stay on the road due to the bumps and negative camber. I must have rolled and not finished the stage about 6 times before actually setting a time! First time was a 3:38.70 including a small roll, then as I got into the rhythm I set a 2:29.38 which was a PB, but bearing in mind I rarely save my profile, my best times often get deleted so dont read much into that. Very interested to see others SD times to see where on earth my pace is. My consistency = awful so I need speed at least...!
Also Recce'd every other stage once and felt much better on every other stage, especially Sikakama which I think will be decisive in this event. You can go flat out for large percentages of the stage if you have the balls, but some (including myself!) may go slightly slower and therefore be more certain of finishing without crashing. I loved Mutsaselka (sp?) and look forward to setting a competitive time on it.
So, over to others so I can see SD times! :)

How about setting a rule (for those using RSRBR2010) each rally raced one way out, without running each leg separately, just like In online races?

But its not always possible to do the whole event in one go.

I agree with Macd, this is meant to be offline and therefore free for people to do it in their own time, so it'll stay like it is.

I see a few people have changed machinery - I find the Focus very easy to control on (almost) all these snowy stages whereas the C4 feels really awkward to me.
Anyway, any other SD times yet?

Well I got a baseline time on this stage with the 206-really wasn't happy with it. Then swapped to the Focus and dropped 6 seconds by the second intermediate...This stage highlights the shorcomings of the 206 whereas another Finland stage overlooks them.
I'd give a time, but I kept wrecking in the final sector!!!
I'm probably looking at a low 3:50-high 3:40 range...
On autivaara I could tease out no difference between the 206, the 09 Focus, and a Fabia, but it wasn't as technical as the latter portion of the shakedown stage.

The difference in the personality of these stages is amazing...
You drive on Sikakama which is a flat blast through the snow...
Then go to a stage like Mustselka which is frsutratingly technical....
pettersolberg29
10th November 2010, 16:13
I know what you mean - Sikakama went well for me, but Mustaselka didn't feel good. There are so many bumps that you are constantly wrestling the car even down a straight!

I'm telling you one thing: this rally would never been possible done one way out! :D
By the end of leg1, was feeling exhausted!The first 3 stages, had almost everything;
twisty technical and open fast parts full of hidden dangers! Think I did quite well though...
Been fast enough and very carefull at the same time. Don't know If Is It just me,
but returning back to non mod, gameplay felt much smoother, than through RSRBR.

Hey Bruce, is it OK if I have two entries for this rally - one as a WRC entry and also a S2000 entry? I have tried the Fabia S2000 around here and on some stages I'm within 10s of my WRC time (although I struggled on Sikakama)!
Bruce D
12th November 2010, 05:44
Sure you can do, but the S2000 one will be a non-points scoring entry. But you can enter as many times as you feel.
Glad to hear people are finding this one tricky. I thought it was tricky last year but I thought I was the only one. Guess not.

Some of the youtube videos of these stages are positively amazing..
Its as if the fronts are magnetized to some hidden superconductive magnet underneath the road, and the rear is a precisely controlled pendulum with crystal ball-like knowledge of the road.
I'm not there yet :(

Finished the shakedown for this event. I concentrated more on getting good setup for the car, not the best stage time. Started with default setup (which was pretty horrid for me) and after 5 passes finished with a setup I liked. Anyway the best time I got was 3:49,42 on the last run. There was space for some improvment but not much.

I have finished my rally. I had ups and downs. Favourite stages were for me Sikakama I & II. They had great flow and I really enjoyed driving on those stages.
Day one went without any problems, few small driving errors here and there. I tried to get into a rhytm.
Day two I started the same way and expected similar grip as on first day. Then I went too fast into a left hand corner and hit something with the rear right of the car. Luckily I managed to stay on the road and lost maybe few seconds. Later into the stage I also was too fast for a corner but this time I tried to correct it. I spun instead and ended up going backwards. Had to stop the car and do 180 to get going again. Lost maybe 10-15 seconds due this incident. SS5 went without major problems, just few driving mistakes in slow corners.
SS6 went ok but on the next stage I struggled to keep the car on the road. I couldn't get any rhytm and probably lost lots of times there.
Few pictures (http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/t6nns/RBR%20MF%20Cup%20-%20S3%20-%20Rnd%202%20-%20Sweden/) from my rally.

I've finished Legs 1 and 2. Felt very good in the Focus although there were so many times I nearly rolled or ended on 2 wheels as I tried to get right into the apex. Will finish tonight.
In the Fabia S2000 things have gone even better. I'm thinking about which entry to have as my points scoring entry. Is there an S2000 cup or SWRC Bruce where my Fabia points would count? If not I'll enter with the Focus. But with the Fabia I'm only 50s off my Focus pace after 5 stages and that includes a stage (Sikakama) where I lost at least 25s with engine stalling problems and a roll.
Looking forward to the results. I think my pace last year was good so hoping for a good result in 2010.
Bruce D
15th November 2010, 11:49
There is a S2000 cup but nobody has entered it this year at the moment. Better to use your WRC entry IMO.

Just on another note, I'll be returning to the series from Portugal onwards, but this time in the WRC class having successfully negotiated a deal with Citroen for a C4 (they're going cheap these days ;) ) Finished the skin today and I'll start testing for Portugal this week, hopefully with some decent results.

Really happy with my 2nd ever win - overall result makes it look easy but I didn't win any stages by a mile. Very impressed by the level of competition - as LCD says everyone within 1 minute in the stages.

Pleased with my results so far this season, we're already gone one better than last year. Hopefully we can keep this up over then season, get a few more wins and see how we're placed at the end of the year. I'm happy that the consistency is finally there and we can give these guys a run for their money. to finish on the podium in the championship this year again is my aim and maybe a place (or two :P) above last year. I'm looking forward to, and hoping to actually finish, Portugal this year :)

No, this is a totally different Hesketh. I don't actually know the story of Roy Hesketh, but the track was built in 1951 and discontinued in 1981. The stupid thing is it was closed because they wanted to make a housing complex out of the area and naturally, even though the race track was there first, these stupid people complained about the noise and had the track closed. Tragically, even today 95% of the circuit still exists and they still have fun events there, only the final corner has been removed for houses.
If you go these coordinates in Google Earth you'll see what the track looks like now, they've just added a loop at the end of the lap to bypass the houses.
