Guy Wilks has signed a deal to drive Peugeot's 207 Super 2000 on 11 rounds of next year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The deal is expected to be announced by Peugeot tomorrow morning and will end weeks of speculation concerning the identity of the driver who would take the seat vacated by outgoing IRC champion Kris Meeke.

I really thought Guy would stay with Skoda, especially as they clearly have the fastest car!

This is the best possible news for the championship. Kopeckż and Loix need competition ;)

So Mirek you think that Wilks can ''show'' competition against Kopecky-Hanninen,after 2010 seazon?

Mirek

To Kopeckż yes, to Hänninen no as he won't start in IRC (besides two or three occasions) ;)

We should also consider that now Wilks will have factory car. He didn't have it in 2010...

Good for Wilks!

Is Loix gonna run full IRC season?

Still no final decision is taken concerning Freddy's program in 2011. Only thing that seems to be sure for the moment is that he will do Monte Carlo in factory backed Skoda. ;)

Will Skoda UK seek an other driver for 2011, or was did they only commit beause of Wilks?

It is quite a big surprise, but a good choose for Peugeot. Wilks is the best thing in the UK after Meeke if they seek instant succes. I thought that Wilks got assistent and a works car from Skoda on several occasions in 2010?

Edit. Skoda Uk will continue in 2011

Officially there are no official Peugeots in IRC :) . Only dealerteams, like Peugeot North Korea, Peugeot Senegal, Peugeot Peru.....

Given the "rumours" that were going round a few months ago did anyone see this coming??

what about loix? will he be teammate with kopecky, at offical team?

Mirek

I think that both will start as privateers in most of the events (except special occasions like Monte Carlo - 100 years of RMC and 110 years of Škoda).

Latest rumour was about Keith Cronin at Peugeot

Wasn“t it Adam Gould? I am not sure.
Anyway, I would like to see Cronin in Skoda UK :)

Same here, I would hate to see Cronin get stuck in the BRC after his 2 championship wins!

Yes, and they always employ Frenchman Bryan Bouffier ;)

Now who will get the Skoda drive.... Cronin could be good but maybe Alister McRae or Mark Higgins? Higgins has said he is looking to get into IRC and he is probably better than most other Brits around now.

My money would be on McRae for the name and after his brother's strong drives for Skoda.

Will we see Wilks' livery next week at the Autosport International Birmingham ????

Anyway I hope the Union Jack livery will be kept, I like it very much

Thanks Ricardo ;)

I prefered the bonnet painted in full Union Jack though :mark:

like the idea of using a "new union jack" ;)

Hartusvuori

I'm glad they kept the Union Jack but changed it as well. Union Jack on the bonnet was kind of Meeke's thing and I like to associate it to his driving.

Mirek

Yep Peugeot UK dont want to run a car that has been replaced by a newer model and plus it didnt really work out for Guy last year.

Wonder where he goes from here? :(

I“ve heard he will drive MINI next year. Our IRC-commentator Zdenek Mika told it during Cyprus rally, but maybe it is only rumour.

But the 207 will be again in 2012 and will be only replaced in 2013

There is no Peugeot UK 2012 program.

No wonder, the 2011 campaign was not exactly a success, compared to 2010.

Did Wilks derail his carreer in 2011?
