Well yes, but it's still a bit indulgent of them to say this crap and it annoys me that poxy sites like rallyfuzz peddle this crap as if it's fact. Anyone who's gormless enough to swallow this crap, well I pity them.....

Yeah, can´t wait to see what Meeke can really do. Even at his J-WRC times he was mostly the quickest driver around but just even while leading by a minute, decided to go for stage wins and mostly rolled out of the rally. I would also say that Meeke is the quickest British driver around and I´m happy that he finally got the shot at the WRC too. Now he just have to make the results what still won´t be easy.

What comes to Wilson, he have had his years and is a decent driver but won´t never be "world class" . I would even rate Wilks ahead of him. Since a few years Matthew just haven´t been able to catch up the leaders at all in quite competitive car. Maybe the new spec cars will turn it a bit better. I also find it as interesting that sometimes he can pull a few really nice stage times, just to slip heavily at the few next ones. Also somehow I really think that he could have been faster, without the few bad accidents at the early career. With him,I think them has left a mark.

i really don't get all the hate for Wilson jr. fair enough he may not be the fastest driver but neither is Villagra in the Munchi's Focus and he never gets slated or anything. :~/

Because Viagra doesn't pretend to actually be a top flight WRC driver.

Reminds me of a friend I used to have who had a rally car and drove it in rallies and always introduced himself as a rally driver

I think the title should be, "Win a ride with Britains best rally driver who's dad is the boss of a World Rally team"

He has the best car in Great Britain and for this reason is he the Britain’s leading FIA World Rally Championship driver.
Exactly the same tale why Loeb is the champion, he has at present the best wrc car.
Many drivers could be the best if they are able to drive with the same car!

Ha ha Wilson has a perfectly good, top-spec Focus that is wasted on him. Not quite as much as it's wasted on Al Qassimi but there you go.

If Loeb was in a Focus he'd be champion. He's just better than everyone else.

The kid just hasn't got it. You can hear it and see it on his incar videos. Just listen to the throttle... There is all the time on/off throttle hesitation in blind corners. Also in blind corners he is "looking where the road goes" with his steering, almost never able to commit to a racing line. He is especially not able to commit on notes and attack the stage. he is driving the same speed like Raikkonen, like a new guy who hasn't assimilated note driving yet and who looks to see what is coming next before giving gas. Off course he is much worse than Raikkonen because when there is no need for notes he is still slow.
Must be hard for the M-Sport engineers not to crack up laughing when papa wilson asks them to compare his son's telemetry to that of the other drivers. Especially if he looks at throttle telemetry and corner speed :p .

the poor guys havee a tough job trying to look serious... :D

Hmmm. new car, new driving style:

Q. How do you feel in the car?

MW: Really good, actually. I do feel much, much more at home in the car than I do in the Focus. It's kind of hard to explain, I don't know what it is, but in the first five or 10 kilometres I did in the car, I just knew I could push it more and feel more at home when we were pushing it. It's a fantastic car, there's no doubt about that.

Q. Is it a different driving style to the Focus?

MW: It is, yes. You really have to get the Fiesta by the scruff of the neck and drive it, you can't rely on the diffs or anything like that, it's down to you to get it turned into the corner and away. It's a great feeling to drive the car like that.

Q. Will you be driving it next year then?

MW: I really hope so. Like I said, I feel like this one was made for me and it would be a real shame for all my time in the car not to be put to some use.

So Matt's saying the Fiesta is a car he can push harder? I hope that will happen and it's not just talk!

Would be interesting to see what Matt could do if he stretched himself. He seems like Hirvonen in his first couple of years, just being conservative, picking up minor points all the time by default.

Then when he was sacked by Subaru, he seemed to realise he had to get serious and REALLY do something special to save his career. And he impressively managed it in that old 2003 Focus.

Absolutely agree with Kaffi that Matt's onboards show him hesitant and cautious, not really at one with the car or commiting to corners.

Please Matt show us that you can be better than this.

By the way, I remember very well in 2005 when Malcolm chastised Toni Gardemeister and Roman Kresta on several occasions. I felt he was quite justified to sack them - it didn't seem to me they were making every effort.

I really liked both those drivers. I am fans of both, but respected Malcolm's tough but fair decision not to retain them.

But then he speaks about Matthew's "impressive" results, such as his awesome 6th place in Finland (the fact it was by default didn't seem to matter, he was ONLY quite a lot of minutes behind!!! I do believe Malcolm owes Toni and Roman an apology.

Not necessarily and Yes
The champion would be the team leader of Citroen if Loeb was in a Focus, he'd be having to drive 11/10 all the time to stay on the pace and would make more mistakes in one season than he has in his entire WRC career. Would have been interesting to have seen Gronholm or Solberg as his Citroen team mate 4 years ago :D

As for the rally buzz item - god there are some 0-raving angry in 3.2 secs types around. They have published a PR blurb verbatim, clearly written by some Jacintha or Tarquin in the PR department of M-Sport. They are either being paid to run the piece, the point of which is to advertise the prom activity of Monster M-Sport at Catalunya, or they are doing a favour to ensure ready access to future stories. At least we don't get this stuff from the other energy drink PR dept. (I don't mean 'Loony Gator') as they have no one to promote :s mokin:

Yeah, can´t wait to see what Meeke can really do.

Same here, my guess is that he drives of positions somewhere between 5-8.

Year 1, my guess is he will beat the 2 ford drivers on tarmac, 4-5 on gravel and beat his team mate, who ever that is.

It really depends on the car....if the mini is even remotely competitve he will have no problems beating the ford kids on tarmac...on gravel he will fight with them and he will crash most of the times.

There are and has been several other drivers in WRC you could say the same.

I thought Warmbold was not a bad pilot, especially considering the better competition then. As for Mr Zimbabwe, no comment.
