The Chevrolets are looking very good today, good news for Jason Plato. The BMWs are going well.
Problems for Ben Collins and David Pinkney in both sessions.
James Thompson improving the GPR Motorsport Toyota Avensis. Not doing too badly for a car that is only turning a wheel for the first time today. It took the Arena Motorsport an entire season to make their Fords capable of challenging for victory, so fairly encouraging.

2nd practice Thommo within a second in the NGTC car (49.6) so it seems its about there already

is the Toyota just taking place in practice sessions or actually racing this weekend

VkmSpouge
9th October 2010, 15:10
I believe it is just the practice sessions.

2nd practice Thommo within a second in the NGTC car (49.6) so it seems its about there already

Though it has to be noted that getting within a second of the lead pace around Brands Hatch Indy circuit is easier than on any other track in the country since the lap time is so short. Still getting themselves onto the back of the midfield after just a few laps is pretty good.

22 Ben Collins -
23 James Kaye -
24 Dave Pinkney -

Looking pretty onmious for tomorrow. Jason Plato with maximum ballast takes pole with a pretty convincing margain over the chasing pack. If no one can get ahead of Plato early on then he'll be on for the championship.
Good laps by the two Triple Eight Vauxhalls, Sam Tordoff impressing on his debut.
Motorbase unable to fix Ben Collins car yet, a real shame he hasn't had a shot this weekend. Shame to hear that Pinkney's season looks to be over.

well well well....Jason Plato seems to be on fire so far this weekend. shame that he is leading the championship because I want it to be as close as possible....so if the Hondas can get in front in races one and two but jason win it and the championship in race three after a thriller, I'll be happy.

9th October 2010, 19:55
Plato must have the opposition more than a bit worried after getting pole with all that ballast! But with the two Hondas right on his tale its going to be an very tense start and I just hope that the driving standards dont get too stupid.

And credit to Tordoff! Only a few tenths off in 8th place is a great first effort!

Despite having full success ballast on that Chevrolet is incredible, Jason Plato will wrap the title up easily next race as long as he can make one more decent start.
Mat Jackson threw away third place in that spin, he has not really had a good year by the standards of previous seasons.
Sam Tordoff made a horrible start and never really recovered. Nice to see Ben Collins actually getting some laps in for once this weekend.

Congratulations JP :champion:

A superb season, some hard work on the car, and won the championship in style with two (so far!) lights-to-flag victories.

It was also great to see a good fair fight, all through the season, with the title settled in the correct way on the track.

I do get the feeling though that race 3 is going to be chaos after the quietish races weve had so far.

Congratulations to Jason Plato. He deserves this championship.

A shame to see Gordon Shedden's title hopes end in the pitlane before the race even began.
I am glad ITV realised halfway through the race that there was racing happening and showed something other than the procession happening at the front.

Just realised something as James Thompson makes the draw for the reserve grid; doesn't he look a bit like Captain Jack Sparrow? :D

EDIT: Andrew Jordan on pole!

VkmSpouge

Andrew Jordan did an excellent job to withstand all that pressure from Steven Kane throughout that race. Steven Kane though was completely asleep on those restarts.
Well done to Sam Tordoff for scoring his first BTCC point.

Congratulations to Honda and Team Dynamics for claiming the Manufacturers-Constructors' Championship and the Teams' Championship. Well done to Tom Chilton and Arena Motorsport for getting the Independent Drivers' Championship and Independent Teams' Championship.

what a wonderful BTCC season it's been.

with the setback of no Giovanardi and Turkington, as well as no more RAC sponsorship for WSR, things didnt look great for this season.

How we were wrong! fantastic racing all year, my particular highlight being Donnington. a great championship battle that went all the way between 4 men to brands.....and a very deserved champion in Jason Plato. the man has shown real class year I think. despite moaning about Ford all year... :D

shame the title didnt go to the final race, but on the other hand Plato was masterful this weekend. bad luck for Onslow Cole and Shedden......

Thanks to the teams, drivers, sponsors, track promoters, ITV, fellow fans and of course Alan Gow for a fantastic season. here's to the future; NGTC, ITV4 and all.... :)
